Welcome from Bismarck, Arkansas. I spent 5 years working on the Syncrude project as Quality Manager. Loved that job, the country and the Canadians, yes even the Newfies.

I'm not a big fan of buzz boxes but will still help you if you own one. :D So when does the party start?

Yep, I'm still using my AC buzzbox as a door stop, per your advice. :D

They work good for that. Some are better than others though.

Actually, that little Thunderbolt AC buzzbox has come in pretty handy.
When I have a project away from the shop, I just carry it on a hand truck and plug it into a long extention cord from my dryer plug at the house. It does a good enough job. In fact I enjoy welding with it, and I don't have to clean up the metal as well as opposed to using my Hobart mig.

The IdealArc 250 AC/DC I have at the shop is a better welder, but not very portable at 350 lbs.

If someone is buying a new welder and wants portability, they could buy an inverter for about the same price or even less and have a way better machine. An Idealarc 250 is an excellent welder.
