I have a Husqvarna YTH20F42T with a failed Hydro-Gear tranny. The tranny is a 354-0510. I am reasonably mechanically inclined and have no hesitation in pulling the tranny and rebuilding it. However, (here is the stupid part) how the heck do you get the fan and input pulley off? The input shaft turns free and there is no way to anchor it. Hydro-Gear's instructions and all of the videos I have found start with the pulley already off the unit. It appears as though the nut holding the fan and pulley in place has been staked.

Any input from those who have solved this issue would be very much appreciated.

Without ever seeing the set up and what kind of space / clearances are available, I'd try a strap wrench on the pulley and impact wrench on the nut.
