We traded in our L3400 and purchased a new L4701 4WD HST last week. The L3400 was a great tractor w/ BH attachment but was too small for our new property. We moved to Oklahoma and purchased a 40 acre farm. The hay bales here tend to the large net rolled variety and only the 3 pt on the L3400 would pick them up, with some effort.
We had to let the Backhoe attachment go with the L3400 since it was type matched and would not fit the L4701. All our other implements work since it has the adjustable swing arms. It arrived with .7 hours so it is spanking new. They liquid filled the rear tires for free. We also purchased a broadcast sprayer, 3 pt, at the same time.
This is actually the wife's tractor, I just get to use it. The first one we bought her was for her anniversary, this one is a birthday present. She is happily out brush hogging fields and getting the feel of the new tractor. She did the same with the first one and the backhoe.
Short story is they gave us a good trade and made it a pleasant trade. Look forward to many hours of work on this tractor.
Note of caution on the DIS with the new tractors. When we did the walk through they specifically told us to push the DIS each time we start the tractor. This directly contradicts the manual. It places the DIS in manual mode if you push the switch and forces the operator to manually run it when necessary. I contacted the dealer and talked with the maintenance guy and he said pushing the switch was correct.
I contacted another very large kubota dealer and they said DO NOT push the switch unless I wanted to run this in manual mode.
Kubota needs to clear this issue up in my opinion. I am going to follow the manual and let the operation take place automatically.
