Tractor
john deere 2520
Hello all,

I am a former ASE certified mechanic. Now employed in the utility industry. Same money but better retirement and medical insurance provided :D . These days I consider that a big improvement over me being self employed.

My wife and I are owners of a 2007 John Deere 2520, FEL, 62D deck. We had purchased about 1 more acre and needed something bigger than the 2 mowers we had.

Other equipment is:

Ford LGT145 lawn tractor made in 1974. I am going to rebuild the engine to have as a spare lawn mower. The deck is very weak but it has been very reliable for almost 30 years I have owned it. It quit once and would not start, bad condensor replaced it with a used one from a 327 chevy dist. that I had laying around, its still in there need to change it I guess. Had to change the rings out about 15-20 yrs ago.

Cub Cadet 1650 lawn tractor made in 1979 bought it for $200. Engine had a knock, busted piston replaced it and used it but its not very used friendly. The hydro control is under the steering wheel.

Welcome to TBN! You'll find lots of good information out here and lots of knowledgeable tractor owners.

BTW, good luck with your current issue on the JD 2520.

Welcome aboard!

Its always great to get a mechanic's opinion. Hope you stick around. 2520's are pretty popular around here.

Here is my new arms on the 3pt lift.

Also a shot of the deck. The dealer replaced all of the pins on the deck lift but installed regular cotter pins.

The circle clip for the pin. Hard to see but its on the upper lift linkage.

Howdy all,
I have a small spread in central montana and my main problem child is my 1964 john deere 4020. Great tractor, but always a starting problem. Replacing the ignition switch helped for a while. Suggestions welcome.
