Tractor
New Holland 1925 Kubota bx 24
Just picked up a New Holland 1925 , 4x4 with a loader , its hydrostatic and has a whopping 420 hours . BUT there is a problem , the loader moves real slow and screeches when I use it . It lifted the 6 ft grade box and 6 ft york trake out of my truck , but slowly. No other noises in the power steering or the 3 point hitch . I bought it from a guy I know and I remember 4 years ago he has a issue with the loader controls . They feel "loose" to me , not very reactive . I have only had the tractor since this afternoon , fluids are full . I am guessing there may be a flow problem thru the valve , but I havent realy looked that hard at it as of yet . I am wondering if anyone has had similar issues like this . Matt

Welcome to TBN...................

First, check your loader quick connect fittings. Unplug each hose and plug them back in.
Second, ask the guy you bought it from if he ever changed the hydraulic fluid and filters. If not that would be a good place to start. At 420 hours it should have been changed at least once.

Owned one for several years...tractor wasn't bad, but the loader (NH7308) was junk. (sorry to tell ya). Design is poor with the loader forcing down under load on those front pins, which are attached out on the front of the frame. I actually BROKE my subframe ( 1/2" thick, 4" tall piece of metal ) once, replaced it, then the next time (several years later), I broke the bell housing between the engine and transmission. That also houses the hydrostatic unit. That was a $1300 hunk of metal. That was it. I replaced it (myself....and you have to pull the engine and nearly every piece of the body to get to it), then sold that POS. I was totally unimpressed with the design and strength of the loader.

When I went looking for new tractor, the front loader was something I REALLY checked out, having put up with that NH for years. My Yanmar has twice the loader the NH had.

Lift the rubber deal up at the bottom of the joystick (loader control)....look at the aluminum plate....there should be 3 places it connects to the valve rods....they fail, bolts fall out, broke the plate once on mine, the 'tie rod' end break, etc. Make sure it is connected properly....if the stick feels 'loose', that is most likely your problem, and it isn't making good connection to the valve.

After doing some reading I think I will check for cracks and loose bolts while I figure out the loader . Thanks for the info .

need some opinions , i think I may have found the problem of my hydraulics squeeling and operating slow . The hydro oil was discolored , it wasnt quite white , but it was a translucent tan color . I am guessing from sitting outside it got moisture in it. Now I need to figure out how to flush the hydraulics . Draining it wont get out whats in the lines . Has anyone had to do something similar?

Well, my tractor came with tan hydro oil with blobs of white stuff floating in it, I did a normal oil change and filters and it looks normal color now. I didn't do anything special to purge lines.

Yeah, you'd get the bulk of it just doing a normal drain. Takes about 7-8 gallons of fluid if I recall. And I seem to remember there are two different plugs in the sump... an "upper" and "lower" plug (it sorta steps down) as well as two different spin on filters.....a big one and small one.

I dont have a manual , looks to me that the HST oil is separate from the hydraulic oil , I only saw one filter on the passenger side (right) and one drain plug between the rear wheels . I picked up some economy hydraulic oil today and a new filter ( $ 40.00 ) . I washed out the old filter with diesel and I am going to re use it on the initial flush , then I am going to flush that out and fill up with new .
