Hello everyone, have a question about my new Ferris 700z mower. I wanted to put a suspension seat on it, and found a decent deal on a new Toro suspension seat that the dealer had in stock. He said it should work, and they have installed one on a Ferris in the past without problems. Got it home, installed it and plugged in seat safety switch (the plug looked exactly the same as the ferris seat plug), but when I drop the parking brake or pull the steering bars in, it kills the engine. I'm thinking perhaps the sensor is not compatible with the mower? Gonna call the dealer tomorrow and see if he has any ideas. Thanks for any help, Matt

Sensors have a normally open OR normally closed circuit. It sounds like the suspension seat switch is opposite from your Ferris. Cant you just swap out the switch from your Ferris seat.
I put a suspension seat on mine but just closed the seat switch and taped it so it is on all the time. It still works all the safeties except killing the mower if you dismount so it is up to the operator to stop the mower before dismounting. It will still stop the engine if the parking brake is on if you pull in the steering arms but doesn't stop it if you shift positions or get off without setting the brake.

I like that because I can get off to move dogs toys without have to set and later release the park brake each time or restart the engine if I forget to set the brake. I am not a big advocate of all the safeties anyway, operator needs to have some thought as to what is safe or not and not have to depend on Big Brother to totally protect him from himself.
However if you want Big Brother protecting you, just swap out the sensors. They just do a half twist and pop out.
