For the past 15 years I am playing pioneer and clearing land for a cattle ranch. Have 87 acres and more than half is cleared. It is a learning experience since I did not grow up on a farm. Looking forward to learning a lot at this website.
Got into it sorta accidentally. The story always gets a good laugh. When my daughter left for college, I got severe empty nest syndrome and needed something. Having been a single parent for 16 years, I thought a cow would be nice to have since I had almost an acre of pasture! I went to an Angus dispersal and wound up bring back 4 short bred young cows along with a heifer calf along side. They cleaned up the grass in less than two weeks but I was hooked. I have my little herd split in three farm where friends gave me more pasture. Someday I hope to have a nice little herd of around 15 mamas all here on my place. Wish I was 20 years younger though or had a couple of teenage sons. Raising seedstock Braunvieh at the moment with a nice little herd.
