Husqvarna YTH2348
Hello all, I certainly hope someone can help me.

Short story:
I think my Husqvarna YTH2348 mower deck became clogged and bogged with clumps of wet/damp grass falling from the inner deck surface into the blades, stopping the mower. I've pulled the mower back to a clear-ish spot in the yard, over dirt, and used a stick to try to scrape out as many clumps as possible. When I turn the key, it only clicks twice; once when I turn the key to the on position and once when I release it out of the on position.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this or anything I should tell my repair person to look for?
Thank you for your time,
Heidi

Long story:
I have a Husqvarna YTH2348 that is only a few months old that has been wonderful. I use the leaf blower to blow the mower-deck clean after every use and before parking it in the garage. I have used the water connection to clean the deck about three times, I felt it cleans light dirt and grass very well, but I am not so sure it is doing what I thought it would do.

Tonight I encountered a problem and I haven't been able to find any online information about it, even though I've joined and looked through a few pages and topics here ... none seem to be my issue.

I had mowed the front yard last evening. Tonight I was mowing the backyard and the mower appeared to periodically get bogged down. When it would, I would disengage the blades and come to a stop, by this time the mower appeared to be running steadily so I would engage the blades with no issues and continue mowing.
I am sure I was not mowing over 'too much grass' and the blades are set at the moderate height of 2.5, which is the level I select to mow the yard while using the highest setting of 3.5 for the back half of the lot. I overlap cut-swaths and try to never mow over where I've shot the clippings from the previous pass.
It seemed to be spitting the clippings out just fine, but in retrospect it appears it was not spitting out enough clippings.

High humidity here and yesterday's mowing was in front where the grass had mostly full sun all afternoon. Tonight's backyard had full sun for a short bit and shade for most of the afternoon.

I suspect the grass was too damp and collected under the deck and would periodically 'dump' heavy loaded clumps of grass into the blades, causing the bogging. Just as it bogged and died I noticed it spit a clump out and then died. I pushed the mower a few feet back and noticed a lot of clumped grass under where the deck had been parked over.
With the mower off, I lifted the guard and used a stick to scrape as much clumped stuff as I could see/reach w/out putting my hands actually in the deck, and there was quite a bit. I have cleared as much as I can.

When I try to start it, it only clicks. Not the click-click-click-click of something wanting to start, but just a single, loud, click as I turn the key to the start position and another single, loud, click as I allow the key to return out of the start position.

What can I do? If I cannot do anything, what can I ask my repair person to check?
Thank you for your time,
heidi

Welcome!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

No answerers but a few questions::)

Is the clutch disengaged?
With the key in the off position and removed can you turn the mower blades?
Is the battery charged and at the proper liquid level?
Are all the battery cable connections clean and tight?

Thanks for the reply. Everything is new so I am assuming all is well, though I'll check everything you suggested tomorrow. I didn't even think to check the charging level. I think I was assuming (hoping?) there was some sort of safety kill-switch that I activated by allowing the blades to get clogged. I'll check the blade rotation tomorrow, in addition to all connections and cables.

I sat on the seat and depressed the clutch, which is starting position. Or locking the clutch into 'Park' would allow me to start it w/out my foot on the pedal. Neither worked this evening.

Yes, I have only 22hrs on it for a 1 acre lot and I was mowing the next door neighbor's acre lot for a month until she was able to have her rider fixed.

Problem solved. IT WAS OPERATOR ERROR. :ashamed:

Think of The Most Blonde Thing I could have done ... even though I'm brunette.
Yup!
The mower choked on the falling grass clumps and died on me, then it wouldn't start because I did not disengage the mower blades after it had died.
:ashamed:

Anyway, we got the mower up and knocked all of the clumps out of it, and I couldn't believe how much was still up there. I guess I'm gonna have to use the waterhose connector on the deck after every time I mow. I just didn't think it worked very well, but it is the only method I have available to me at the moment. I cannot afford to buy a mini-lift at this time and I have no way to lift the mower myself after I'm done mowing to be able to fully scrape and/or pressure wash.

Anyhow, thank you so much for your replies and suggestions.
The problem turned out to be *me* and that is a fairly easy one to fix.
