- 1952 8n 6 cyl Funk conversion w/front loader&back-hoe
A few years back I became the proud owner of a 1952 8n 6cyl Funk conversion w/ front loader and back hoe. It had set out in the weather for a couple years so the engine was locked up but was assurred by the seller that all the drive train and hydraulics were working fine when it was parked. I rebuilt the engine, which was a chore in itself just to locate parts. Just to be on the safe side before stabbing the engine I decided to pull inspection panels off the drive train and as it turns out I've had to perform a complete overhaul clear down to replacing spider gears in the differential. Like I said it has a back hoe and I don't think the previous owner ever took it off cause the tractor hydraulics for the 3 point lift was pretty much a pile of scrap metal laying in the bottom of the rear case. Everything has gone fairly well until this point, ADJUSTING THE HYDRAULICS! I've started by doing all adjustments according to the service manual but when checking the intake valve at the pump after final assembly the valve still has about 3/8" travel. I've read on some forums that there's a jig or fixture available from a fellow out of Alabama and attempted to buy one from him but found out he passed away in August. Any help or advise would be appreciated, or maybe where a person could purchase his jig somewhere else, or maybe even just read his instructions supplied with his jig. Thanks
