Yanmar 1610D & Ford 1600
Figured I'd knock out the first post with an introduction.

My father and I share tractors between our two properties (he has 2 acres and I have 12.5 acres). We've had a Yanmar 1610D for 5+ years and it has been a great little tractor and we just stumbled on a Ford 1600 with a front end loader and 5' bush hog for an extremely fair price so we got that too.

Not too many questions except maybe what the oil capacity is, we'll figure it out when we fill it but it doesn't hurt to ask. :)

I have a Ford 1600. I can't say enough how fond I am of it -and it has 3,600hrs- Fantastic tractor. I don't have a owners manual, but I just changed the engine oil, (if thats what you meant) with filter it takes 5-6 quarts.

Thanks. Sorry, that is what I meant - engine oil. My dad did some searching and came up with 5.3 quarts.

This one is in nice shape with 1600 hours, has a nice front end loader as well as a canopy. Came with a 5' Bush Hog (BH brand name too). FEL hydraulic hoses could use replacing IMO, since we sell them where I work I'm thinking about making them up as I can get ALL the hoses on the tractor for an extremely cheap price. Paid $4100 for it. Fair?

Do you have a manual for yours? If so, where did you get it?

Our Yanmar also has 1600 hours. Sadly the last few years we've had it does not look too great even though it as been maintained well. A fender got crushed when a pine tree fell on it when the wind changed while cutting it down and I had to make a choice, house or tractor.

$4100 sounds good to me Kermit. I paid $2500 but my tractor does not have a loader, and was sold by itself. No I don't have a manual, I have seen them online. They would probably cost $30 - $50. Do yourself a huge favor, and check where the loader bolts onto your tractor. Especially the 12 bolts in the engine casting. It is a common Ford problem for these bolts to loosen and snap off.

Thanks, great info. Thanks again.

I've got turf tires on it which isn't my favorite. Come close to getting stuck but it'll get dirt from one place to another so that's good plus I've got a field that I can use the bush hog on. I use the Yanmar with ag tires (and 4wd) for places I get stuck. Also I like to use the Yanmar for clearing underbrush in my woods, it's compact size along with a 3' Bush Hog are great for maneuverability.
