Tractor
massey furgerson 40
I have just purchased a MF 40 industrial tractor for use on my farm. I wanted a tractor with front end loader that could lift large round bayles of hay which can weigh up to 600kg. I paid $10,000 Australian for it. I have had it 3 months now and it has been very good. It has a fuel leak and oil leak. I have been recommended to a local tractor mechanic who does on farm servicing plus has a workshop where he can transport tractors to for bigger jobs. The alternative for me was to purchase a 40 horsepower tractor made in China for about $25,000 with fitted FEL which can lift up to 750kg. I am a weekend farmer only, fattening beef cattle. My farm is 150 acres at Kyneton about 100km north of Melbourne, Australia. I looked at either option of purchasing new or buying secondhand and think I have made the right choice in purchasing the MF 40 I will have to spend a bit on it to get rid of the fuel and oil leaks. It has a cabin and PTO and 3PT linkage. I noticed that most industrial tractors don't have these but rather a digger at the rear. I think the price was alright. It needs new front and rear tyres. These will cost me about $600 for eack rear tyre and $180 for each front.
