New Luzhong Bearcat 28hp 4wd tractor won't go forward or reverse.

I have just purchased my first tractor - LZ284 Luzhong Bearcat 28HP 4WD tractor 4 in 1 Front End Loader - and after only 2 hours it would not go forward or reverse. My mate , who knows a bit about tractors couldn't figure out what is going on either. We tried everything we could think of but it won't budge even though the engine is running fine. I rang the guy that I bought it from, but even though it is under warranty, he will charge me to come out to look at it (he is 30k's away). Any one got any ideas???

This was my first thought as well...check the transmission range and 4 wheel drive shift levers, I'll bet one of them is in a false neutral.

Had the dealer (also mechanic) around and it is the clutch. He is try to get out of the warranty because he said I must have burnt it out and thrashed the tractor. I only had less than 2 hours running time and the tractor hardly has dust on it. I have operated heavy mobile equipment for over 30 years and there is no way I would thrash a brand new tractor that I paid hard earned cash for. Ended up having to pay someone else to do my firebreaks. At this point in time I wouldn't be recommending this tractor.

Sorry to hear that. You always hope that it's something simple that you overlooked, especially on a new tractor. Also sorry to hear that the dealer is giving you a hard time. I hope that the clutch giving up on you after 2 hours of use isn't an indication of future issues elsewhere on the tractor.

agreed, can't believe they are trying to blame me. they've taken it to their workshop... Should confirm the problem tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

Luzhong are rapidly gaining a reputation for being fragile. And by the sound of it this dealer is the only officially recognized Luzhong dealer in Australia. I have had contact with him via email etc...........Must say I was not impressed. Sorry you are having problems. Don't know if it would help but I can supply you with the agent in China who supplied him with the tractor (if my sources are still up to date)...You may be able to convince him to give you the parts under warranty.

It may be better in future if you post in the Chinese tractor forum section and just list your tractor as a Luzhong. There are lots of good people on here with a lot of knowledge

The tractor is back and was repaired under warranty. It was a loose clutch plate. Here's hoping it was a one off. Apparently this is only the second luzong that has been returned and the other one was thrashed.
