Kubota L2350
Today, I purchased a CountyLine 3-point hitch log splitter from Tractor Supply (made by SpeeCo). The splitter utilizes the hydraulic system of the tractor. The problem is, the manual and instructions have zero about specifically setting it up to your tractor. I have done some research and it appears this is a little more sophisticated than I expected. I have a Kubota L2350. Someone told me to located the PBY or "power beyond port", but I can't seem to find one.

Anyone have any experience setting up a log splitter to a tractor like mine?

If you have a loader on your tractor, you should have a port on it marked 'PB' or similar. What you want to do is tap into that circuit after the loader valve. Use the search function here for lots of reading on it. No reason a do-it-yourselfer can't plumb it yourself. You will want to run a hydraulic curcuit to the back of the tractor the same as you would to power a backhoe. If by chance you already have a hydraulic valve and ports at the rear of the tractor, you may also be able to use that...... though it may require the use of something like a bungee cord to hold the alve open.

Unfortunately, I do not have a FEL.

I can't help with your particular tractor, but Kubotas will usually have one or two spots to tap into the tractor's hydraulics. If you can follow the high pressure line out of the pump (on the engine), it will usually be a hard steel line running back to the rear axle housing on the tractor. Check under your platform about where your right foot would rest, and possibly just inside your right rear wheel. The hard line will go into a blockw/ cover bolted to it. Kubota makes an adapter to bolt in place of that cover that is threaded to accept hydraulic lines. This is something you will need to get from a Kubota dealer, but thay are not very expensive.

I just spoke with 3 Kubota dealers who basically informed me it can't be done safely apart from having a remote kit installed, which will run approximately $800. That's more than the log-splitter cost. I think I'll keep splitting my wood by hand for now :0.

Take a look under your platform about where your right foot would be. Is there a hydraulic block there to tap into? I'm sure we can get you splitting for less than that. Unfortunately, I can't get a pic of mine to show you what you are looking for for several days. No reason you can't tap into the system where you would tap into it for a loader valve.

Thanks for all your advice Ductape. I think my best option is to go with a pto hydro pump and tank so the splitter is stand alone, faster, etc. That will solve everything.

However, if you have some pics, I would be interested to see what you're talking about. Again, many thanks.
