New Load Trail 10K, 20ft

I did it.

I dug into my mattress full of money and took a few handfuls out.

I picked up a:

- Load Trail
- 20 ft treated deck ( 18 + 2 )
- 10,400 gvwr
- 6 inch channel frame
- 5 ft fold up ramps w/spring assist
- 15 inch tires
- electric brakes on both axles
- free 2 year road side service
- 3 year structural warranty
- 2 year comprehensive warranty

Out the door for $2895, about $900 cheaper than anyone within 300 miles

I did not really want the fold up ramps, but could not find any 10K trailers locally without them.

I brought it home, parked it and will not use it until spring.

For the 1 or 2 times I need it , it will be there now.

the S10 in the photo sure struggled towing it home! Just kidding

Congrats, that sounds like a good deal. I wish mine had those spring assisted ramps, the detachable ones get heavy and they don't have the support stand either.

Nope, I had to buy the spare.

I couldn't talk them into throwing it in.

But the mount came welded on the trailer and included in the price. I hate when you need to get a universal fit mount and figure out where to attach it. Then after you get it all set it either looks bad or is in the way, or the mount is cheap crap.

We added some stands made out of a couple pieces of square tubing to the rear of a buddy of mine's. THat workd out pretty good. Just drop them and pin them when you are ready to load the tractor. Keeps the truck tires on the ground at least.

nice trailer. I have been looking at something similar, just the GN version though. I tore my matress apart last night trying to find that money. I think I have been robbed or the wife got it. LOL

Problem with taking it outta my mattress is I have to really smooth out the remainder so I do not have a hole / depression to sleep in.

Awesome trailer! I have one similar that gets an almost daily workout.
Two things to consider are having extra pins on hand for the ramps, especially near mud...and get yourself a quart of safety yellow and paint the ramps, it helps keep road idiots off yer butt and makes backing up in low light conditions easier.

I would not have thought about extra pins but can see where they would be needed like you say.

Also the yellow ramps sound good. Maybe even fluorescent yellow or lime green

I have all winter to get stuff like that and some good chains and binders. I will get a bit here and there as winter goes on and hopefully be ready for spring.

The Load Trail website has good pictures of their trailers as well as the options available. They also have plenty of information including trailer weights listed. A lot of trailer manuf.'s websites don't list the weight of the trailer.

That is what helped me decide to get what.

Some said just get an 7K 18 foot car hauler. Trailer would weigh about 2000 - 2500 lbs and you should be able to put 4500 pounds on it

Problem is...

- Tractor weighs 2500 bare bones
- loaded tires add 800 pounds
- fel is about 800 (estimated)
- total so far is 4100

- when I want to carry the Landpride tiller that weighs 600 pounds I could possibly be at or above max and we do not want that.

- plus in the spring I will get a Bush hog and that will be 500 pounds or so.

- The trailer I got is rated10K ( Carhauler 10,400 Lb w/6" Channel Frame Load Trail Trailer Manufacturing)
- Weighs 2701.5 empty
- leaves 7698.5 pounds for cargo


I should never exceed that with this tractor and attachments


A lot of people may not think it thru and get the small car hauler.

I guess the full weight of the trailer may not be on the axels but that is just a little more safety factor in addition to what may already be there.

But I'm like you in that I still like to consider the weight of the trailer in making my determination.

I also noted that they had a dealer in Madisonville, Tx. That's 'on the way' for me.

It is also not too big.....

It will haul my 1940 Buick if I need to and not look odd

I do have one complaint now about the place I bought it from.

On the phone while quizzing the guy on this one I had asked if they had an 18 footers with slide in ramps in or may be getting any.

He said that they do not have an 18 footer and there were none coming. Also he had nothing with slide in ramps. He said I'd probably find the 20 footer the right length. And that the 2 feet would not be noticed for towing / handling.

So, 2 or 3 days after getting the 20 footer home, I see they have an 18 footer with slide in ramps shown on their page and a recent photo of it.

It just makes me wonder. I know the 20 footer will work but it irks me that they must have known this 18 footer was coming. The guy I dealt with was the boss so he would have known

Oh well, the 18 footer was $100 more (yes, that is right $100 more) and they did not get my $100 on it

Bought a new Load Trail 20ft flat deck with the spring loaded ramps a few years back. Similar to your trailer but a lighter weight model that they made a few years ago. Same 10.4K rating. I have to say that I've been very pleased with it. Carries and tracks very well. :thumbsup:

And I think the price was great as well!! I have a 18' with 2' dovetail similar trailer but only 7k and it was the same price!

I thought i would only use mine a few times a year, but I bet I use it 2-3 times a month between tractor, and other friends cars etc ... you'll love it.

What are you gonna do when everyone starts asking to borrow it? That will become a problem .. trust me.
