Tractor
Kubota L3800
I purchased 11 acres in the NC mountains last year. Mostly slopped forest with about 600' of gravel drive. I started looking for the good used 4x4 and reading the Tractorbynet forums. Now I love forums and have been lurking on here a lot but I think they double the cost of anything I buy! I just puchased:

L3800 HST w/ FEL
Quick Detach
Filled tires R1
Draw Bar
Rear work lights
Tooth Bar
WR Long OBG 54" Grapple
Third function Valve
LandPride RCR1860
Southern 6' box blade
Kubota 0% for 60 free delivery and filters for the first service
$25000 including NC tax.

Holy S**T!

I have never owned a tractor before.

I think you did good. My L3700SU package ran me $20500 and the diff being I got a landscape rake added and you added filled tires, work lights, grapple and third function. I think the $4500 diff is easily earned by the value of the grapple and third function.

Good Job! Pictures are mandatory, so add the cost of the professional portfolio to the deal. :D a snap of the photos on the mantel instead of the kids is acceptable proof of commitment.

I wouldn't say what a good deal is on that tractor with the attachments.

But, I would say you got one heck of a tractor and some great attachments.

The enjoyment and the work you will get out of that rig is priceless.!!

Best of luck with the operation of your new machine.

I asked the dealer to give me a quote with everything you put here, and he said this....

I can get it with the bobcat style quick attached bucket and R4 tires but it doesn稚 have a third function valve. Only way to do a grapple on it would be with a rear remote and run the hose痴 forward. And I have no clue what your talking about with a wr long obg 54" grapple But can do the rest.

so I'm confused, being new here, and I was suppose to have my L3800HST deliverd on monday, but stopped the deal thinking I was getting taken to the cleaners??

"W.R.Long OBG 54" "grapple. W.R. Long is the name of the grapple company and the part number is OBG2 -54 inches wide. The dealer quoted me about 1K higher for the tractor. I got a quote from Barlows and was ready to purchase from them when the distributor got competitive with the pricing. You can purchase a good one for around $1000. I purchased from the dealer because I wanted everything to work out of the gate. The L3700SU was $17,800.

Creston in between Boone and W. Jefferson in the NC mountains.

Congratulations, I think you're going to like the new tractor.. I have the same rotary cutter, works well with the L3400 so you should have no problems with yours power wise. The L3800 is based on the L2800/L3400/L3700 with a few tweaks, so you're getting a proven package.

There would be no problem adding a 3rd function to the loader. I would be disappointed with your dealer if the best he could do was to plumb the grapple circuit from the rear remotes. But with that being said....... you could have him deliver the tractor that way if you are comfortable with the rest of the deal, and we could help you install a 3rd function at home. If you use the search function here on TBN, you will find days, maybe weeks of reading on them. As long as you are marginally mechanically inclined and have a reasonable tool selection (including tubing wrenches) there is no reason you can't install a 3rd function at home. You can get a kit from W.R. Long through one of their dealers, or put the components together yourself from items bought from someplace like Surplus Center.

I am taking delivery on the tractor next Monday. Is there anything I should make sure to check? I didn't give any instructions on how to mount the third function valve or what kind of connections to use.

Thanks
