New JD Tractors

I caught the part about the garage, I also know the best laid plans come undone at times. The local water department locks their equipment up but one day they dropped a trailer with a new backhoe outside the office to go to lunch. When they came back, it was gone. There are creatures of opportunity crawling around out there...Beware! :(

Ok, and I know exactly what you mean. I will probably keep the trailer in the garage and set it up on jack stands so I can drive up on it, in the garage. Probably have to removed the ROPS to do it. The GT225 makes it okay, but the 4100 will ned to have the ROPS removed. Or I will have to pull the trailer out and then roll the tractor down and roll it up after I am fininshed.

How much does the trailer weigh? You could always throw up a little reinforcement and hang it from the ceiling.

It weighs 800lbs, but I think it would be easier and safer to place it horizontally against the wall, laying on its side and secured to the wall.

How often do you plan on moving the tractor? It might be easier and cheaper to rent a trailer if you're just going to move it every 6 months or so. U-Haul is kind of high but sometimes you can find a local rental company that is reasonable. Owning a trailer can be a PITA...everybody and their brother will want to borrow it. And most of them will make you come get it back, drop it in front of the house and let you deal with reloading and stowing the tractor, bring it back broken or with flats, fenders tore off, etc. I don't mean to sound negative but I own a lowboy and go through this every time I loan it. I let the air out of a couple of tires now and tell them " Sure, you can borrow it! You just have to fix the tires first!" Nobody has needed to borrow it that bad since I started doing that! ;)

bgott,

I learned awhile back to just say no. On anything I do not wish to be broken. Better to still have a friend than to get upset and loose one. Most of the time, I just rather go over and pitch in to help and bring my stuff with me. If I break it, oh well....

Well Probably the trailer will get more use out of it than that. We have other than the tractor usage for it. Bgott; Most of the time it will store the tractor on it in one of my bays. The 4100 with attachments will weight about 1800 - 2000, so I will get some jackstands to support the trailer. Now to figure out how to get the 4100 out of the garage and not take the ROPS off, but that is another task. gettign it in with the trailer will be interesting but I think I can do it.

Also since it will be stored in my garage, I will probably be somewhat safe from the "Borrowers"

Thanks
