New JD subcompact

Richard, your comments while patriotic, don't ring true. Many countires have added various technologies to many areas including tractors. Germany introduced diesel technology. Some of the finest lathes and tooling machines have and continue to be produced in Japan, they are certainly not copies. JD uses front drives from Italy on its larger equipment . Arguably the finest hydrostatic drives and diesels for compacts are on Kubota's tractors, made by Kubota, JD's have used many 3rd party vendors like Eaton for hydrostatic drives, Yanmar for engines. JD has had some wonderful ideas and produced some of the finest equipment available, much of it incorporating various parts from all over the world. I myself while patriotic, also give credit where credit is due, like most of us here. Tell Chalkley his EarthForce is a copy of American technolgy, I suspect you might get some argument

Don't forget that many of the inventions that were developed in the US were done by engineers/inventors that came to America from other countries because they had a better opportunity to see their ideas materialize. So many after being able to prove their inventions brought them back to their home countries.

Thanks for the picture, this is the first good look I've had at the MF GC 2300 since I've first heard of the tractor in June..

Made my rounds of the various tractor dealers today. The MF dealer has two GC 2300 on order since june but has not seen any tractor as of yet an no literature...

The J. D. dealer has a 2210 on order but received notice last week that it maybe December for delivery...

The Kubota dealer isn't looking for the new BX 1500 before the first of the year...

But the day was not a total loss since I found a chipper and pallet fork to fit my FEL.. Got to sleep on it but think I going to buy them both...

What if I was to tell you that the MF2300 is a rebadged Kubota BX? Would you still like it better? Notice the boomerang pedal, notice the ROP, notice the front frame, notice the brake and it's position, notice the seat, the fuel tank, notice the --never mind.
You know guys, Yannamr rebadges as John Deere, John Deere has been reputed to use some Kubota engines, Massey Ferguson is a conglomeration of suppliers one of which may just happen to be--the BIG ORANGE. Well, I certainly like MF's slick styling of their BX and the red paint sure looks nice. My sisters husband hates Fords, he bought a Mazada, it has Ford stickers all over it and in it and under it. You really have to hate Kubota to buy a red BX. J

The MF GC2300 is definately not made by Kubota. Similar styling but it is made by Iseki. Thanks for the comments.

Looking at the specs, it definitely doesn't look like a Kubota BX clone. Their promo states the engine is by Iseki. They call the tractor a sub-compact - a hybrid between a compact tractor and a large garden tractor.

The engine displacement is 68.5 cu. in., developing 22.5 eng.18.7 PTO HP at 2600 RPM.

It also appears to be a wee-bit bigger an heavier then the Kubota BX tractor.

The Kubota is 54.8 cu. in.,developing 22.0 eng. 16.7 PTO HP at 3200 RPM

Yes, I actually knew that and I believe that you are correct. I am not one to miss an opportunity to point out some very clonish points of the MF and the new JD to the BX. Only to be expected, only so much you can do with a seat and four wheels given the parameters they must work within and the basic dimensions of a subcompact machine more or less. Now let's find out a little about Iseki now that you ruined my joke.
Yes, that new MF and the new JD look like excellent machines from the pictures, cannot wait for you guys to be able to get a hold of a few of them. Good luck, sounds exciting. J

1) No pets allowed at the fair. (No beer, either!)/w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif
2) Rosenkrantz has the 2210 on display.
(On a trailer with a detached loader)
No price information and I could not find a salesperson
to help.

Went up today before the rain.

Wished I brought my camera.

If the 2210 is to compete against the BX then
IMHO, the 2210 will win. Hands down, no contest,
it's obvious when you size up the two machines.
Makes the BX really look like a large garden tractor.
It's a much nicer toughter looking machine.
I've had my BX for almost two years and I
am happy with it, for what I bought it for.
I firmly believe that JD will make in-roads with the
2210.

The 4010 does not make the BX look like a garden tractor, how can the 2210 which is smaller do that?

Seth,

Paypal me $7 bucks and I'll go back up tomorrow
and take a ton of pictures for you! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

So far all I've seen on the 2210 was pictures.
Seeing it in person, I was impressed.
One quick look at the back end tells you that
it's a beefier machine./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Maybe Hazmat or Marko will remember to bring
a camera and then post.

Re: New JD subcompact at Deerefield Fair, NH

Did you notice if the hood an fenders were plastic or steel I've seen picture of both the MF GC2300 & JD 2210 but can't tell what they're made of...

Also interested in the transaxles, are they cast iron or have they also gone to aluminium alloy???

The last BX I looked at appears to have all steel body but unfortunately the transaxle is aluminium. The new Cub Cadet garden/compact has a cast iron transaxle but all plastic body. It just seem that they can't get it all together on one tractor...

You need to go back and study what you saw again. The 4010, 4110 and 4115 from JD are similar in size to the BX, and have less structural integrity (Note that JD does not rate these machines for BH or PHD). I therefore will doubt whether a "smaller" machine is going to be beefier and still retail cheaper! What was on display was probably something else. Note that JD makes no reference to this new vaportractor on their site. It is reasonable to believe that one such tractor is on its way, I doubt that what you saw that impressed you so much was it.

Spare the 7 bucks, go back, post pictures.

Seth, don't let it bother you. There will always be new models and unless you trade and buy a new model every year someone is going to one up you. The competition has had more than two years now to target the BX, first denying the subcompact niche was viable and then scrambling to fill it. If the new JD and MF and Cub Cadet subcompacts truely are bigger or better (subjective) then how long do you think that it will be before Kubota offers a new improved unit, a BX2400?
You realize that it is only a matter of time. There probably already exist the drawings and even engineering test mules plying around Kubotas top secret 'bota test site. My fear is that as each company builds a bigger and better subcompact the "subcompact" nature will dissappear and we will just be right back were we started--large heavy, too big tractors--some company will reintroduce a neat little tractor and whamo--it will start over again. If there was a final solution there would be only one size-type-brand of tractor.
When Kubota offers the BX2400 I may trade my 2410 in for it--no wait--the BX2200--no wait, do I really want a new B3100 or that cool looking L3410--no--maybe that nice green Iseki whatchamacallit . Don't fret so, all is well in tractordom. J

Folks ,

Going to the Deerfield fair tommorow 9/28/02. Do not worry , I will not forget my camera and if the JD or anyone elses "NEW" models are there , I'll take PIC's and POST.

Stay Tuned

Mark

Marko,

Glad you are going to take some pics for us. I can't make it myself as I have to get my lawn renovation project done. If weather delays that, the wife wants the basement cleaned.

   / New JD subcompact #38
Hazmat ,

I hope to find a good deal on a 3PH receiver for my 4110. Do you have one ?? If so where did you get it. I wonder if the JD iMatch has the buildt in receiver hitch in it ???

Mark

   / New JD subcompact #39
Mark,

Nope, no receiver hitch. I do use a drawbar with a 1 7/8" ball screwed on it to move my boat around the driveway. It cost about $40 including the bracket to keep it from rotating.

Dave drives a kubota and was at the show and says that he saw a 2210. He gave an accurate description of it based on owning a kubota and comparing the two. I believe he saw what he saw and gave an accurate description. Just because you doubt it doesn't mean anything. You haven't even seen it so how can you say anything? You bash everything JD anyway.
