Cub cadet 8345,3 cyl.40 hp,985 hrs......driving along and all of a sudden it seemed the throttle cable snaped.Look into it and it was fine.R.P.Ms will only go to1700 when top is 2700.rpm.Now this is confusing me i rea lized that the spring that pushes the fuel filter up is gone, and has been for a whileBasically the filter wasnt filtering because of the missing spring .....NOW,i pulled the injecters and cleaned them, brought em to our local tracter repair shop, where he hooked them each up to a pressure tester and the things were shooting streams instead of mist. Now this is confusing me because it purrs like a fat cat,and idles just as nice.I ordered the injecters x 3 and the spring for the filter housing.....it just doesnt seem right that all of the injecters went the same way with no warning/and there is no excessive smokeing @ the exhaust.I am going to compare them side by side when they come in to the old ones,i just find this a lil hard to believe....any thoughts???:confused2:

The IP is probably damaged internally too. something is causing it to not go to full fuel but run fine all other times

If you are lucky the injectors are the only thing that is bad, The debris that pluged the injectors also passed through the injector pump. You may be replacing it too. The spring for the filter would have been a lot cheaper.

Are you sure that your fuel delivery to the pump is unrestricted? You could have some crud in the tank clogging the outlet and that will limit the rpm just as surely as a clogged, iced up, or jelled fuel filter.

Are you sure that when they pressure tested the injectors that they were at the correct pressure? If the tractor otherwise ran well, it doesn't seem likely that all the injectors were the problem.

I am not familiar with the injection pump set-up in that machine. The all of a sudden nature of your problem makes me wonder if it is a governor problem. Like a broken governor spring. I also wonder about the injector testing method. I have my own tester and I can make an injector spray a stream instead of a cone pattern by how I pump the handle on the tester and what pressure I allow it to reach.

As was suggested I would start at the tank and work my way forward to make sure I am getting a steady flow of fuel at each point in the system.

Yep, that is the same style Kubota's use, that I am most familiar with. I'm glad you found it.
