Tractor
JD CT 970
Hello, forum.
Iエve just bought a second hand JD compact tractor 970 Model, year 2007.
I am farming a small property of approximately 12 acres.
My intention is to use this tractor to plow, cultivate and do all agriculture related labors that can be done with a tractor. For this purpose, I still need to buy the appropriate implements.

Not to rain on your parade, but the 970's were 990's in 2007. The 970 changed to a 990 model back @2000 or somewhere in there. So if someone told you it was an '07, they were wrong, maybe a '97. Regardless of year and model #, that was a very good tractor.
As far as implements, not many people use plows anymore. I would suggest a rear tiller, 72" size. W/ a tiller you just have to do once.
As far as cultivating, there isn't really a clear cut way to cultivate. There are some shortline maunufacturer "cultivators" that consist of a toolbar w/ a couple of tines or shanks on ea. side w/ a space in the middle for the row. You have to be careful that your tractor tires can straddle the rows.
Something like this may be able to be found at tractor supply.

rartilerz,

Welcome. Consider looking at an "ALL PURPOSE PLOW". Several manufacturers are now making them. Choose your implements slowly.

Thanks, I appreciate your honest and direct response.
A 1997 Model? ****! Now it is too late, and I will have to deal with my tractor, even it is older than I was told. I hope I did not pay to much for it (bought it from an Ebay bidding process).
On the other hand, the rest of your comments are very welcome.
