new ih 444 owner

I just bought a IH 444 and it will not start without a shoot of ether. It seems to me that the glow plugs are not working the wire from the relay to the 1st glow plug looke to be melted. How can I repair and what is the wiring digram from the glow plug switch to the relay and to the glow plugs? How to check relay is working? Help please.

Do not put 12volts to the glow plugs to test them!!, you will burn them out!!

They should only be tested with the dashboard indicator resistor in line!!
