Hey guys, I just bought a Hustler Super Z to mow my 5 acres. I finally came to the realization that it is too big for my 4010 to handle, at least in decent time. I think I am going to like it very much and it looks like a top notch machine. I haven't gotten to try it out much because a thunderstorm came yesterday right as I got it home.

This is my first zero turn and I do have one little question about it. The handles overlap a small amount when brought to the middle. Is this normal or can I adjust it out? You can hold them slightly apart and they don't but if I am not thinking about it I bring them back to the middle and they hit when going past each other.

Thanks,
Michael

No, they shouldn't hit -
If it is new, have the dealer take care of it -

I'm not familiar with Hustler, but with my Deere Z, the manual says this:

2. With the levers (A) in the neutral position, check the gap (B) between the lever tips.

· The recommended gap is 3-6 mm (1/8-1/4 in.). If the lever end gap is not within specification, move the levers to the neutral lock position and carefully bend them outward. Move them back to the neutral position and check for the recommended gap.

3. Move both motion control levers fully forward and check levers for equal alignment.

Thanks, It is new but I just went out there and bent one slightly. It was just a tad farther in than the other. I never would have thought it would bend that easily but I guess you have a lot of leverage that far out. I never would have thought of that.:p

Congrats on the new Hustler:)
Hustler is a good machine, I have the MFT 36" residential unit that does just a great job for what I do with it.
Adjustment of the levers is just that...bend them for the gap and the bolts at the bottom of the handles for fwd/aft adjustment.

I used it today and it is great. I wish I had gotten one earlier. I mowed my 5 acres with some pretty good slopes in half the time of my tractor and finish mower. Some of the slopes scared me more with the tractor frankly. It took me a little while to get used to controlling it but after a while it came naturally.

Good choice on the Hustler. I just bought a Hustler Mini Z and I like it a lot. Did you get the flex forks? They take a lot of the bumps if your ground is rough. No, the handles shouldn't touch as it sounds you have figured out.

No I didn't get those. I am seriously thinking about it though. The Super Z has the suspension seat and that helps a lot. It actually rides better than my tractor does going at half the speed already. I could really fly if the flex forks are half as good as they say they are.

Mine does not have a suspension seat, wish it did, but it is smoother than most of the tractors/garden tractors I have owned with the flex forks. I have read that there is a big difference but since it came with flex forks I don't know what the difference is. If yours seems smooth and your yard isn't rough, you may not need em.

Don't get me wrong, I am definately holding back because of the bumps in the yard. I could go much faster if the ride wasn't as bumpy. My butt doesn't get bumped around too much but keeping my feet firmly on the deck becomes an issue sometimes.:D Most of the time it is the front wheels hitting a bump and jumping up. With all that said it is worlds better than the tractor already.

Yeah, you need to get flex forks. You paid that much for a Z, another $200 will help smooth out the ride and they do help with wear and tear on your Z because they take up that shock. I have read on lawnsite.com where a lot of commercial guys got them, after running years without them, and they love them.
