Kubota L2501. Here in a week. 10'x30' off backside of existing saltbox garage. Shed roof tying into pitched roof. 6' headroom at low side. 6x6 posts buried below frost line. Gravel floor. Solo job--well, just a man and his tractor, anyway.

Do I need to remove the grass or can I simply spread the gravel over it? Have box blade and FEL.

Thanks.

Not that hard to take off the grass, play with the new tractor and remove it.

Yes, you have to remove it.

Thanks for joining the site. You will find there is always someone willing to share their ideas. Sometimes you have to have some thick skin with some of the nit picking at times. In the end what works for some may not work for you.

Unless you are going to put down a concrete slab, you can just spread the gravel over it. A treatment with glyphosate (Roundup) will kill any that comes thru OR you could treat it first then spread the gravel. Either way, grass isn't going to grow much underneath a shed without adequate sunlight so don't worry about it.
I have gravel driveway and to keep the weeds and grass checked, I just spray it about once a year, NO PROBLEM.

No reason to remove the grass. I would cut it really short before doing anything else, then when you are done, either cut it again before spreading the rock, or spray round up before spreading the rock. If you don't have to grade the dirt or do anything with it, then don't.

Thanks, guys, I was hoping I could leave the grass as I'm new with the implements and would have brought a foot of earth up with it no doubt doubling the volume of gravel to be trucked in. Will put the Roundup to it before spreading.

(Sorry about that snarky comment on the "theory." Took it out.)
