New holland TN65

Looking at a 2002 TN65 4x4 tractor with 1600 hrs on it, no loader, and am told everything is mechanically sound on the tractor by the sales staff. This will be my first tractor if I get it, and just wondering what I need to be looking for on these tractors as far as potential problems to stay away from? As well as if the price sounds right, I can buy it for $9500.

A common problem with the TN series was leaking seals associated with the 3PH lift arms: http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/new-holland-owning-operating/241318-tn75-hydraulic-leak-3pt-resevoir.html. Chances are that the seals have been replaced on a tractor with 1600 hours.

The asking prices listed at http://www.tractorhouse.com/list/list.aspx?ETID=1&catid=1110&Manu=NEW+HOLLAND&Mdltxt=TN65&mdlx=exact are all over the place --$9500 sounds reasonable.

Thanks for the reply. I got away today to go look at it and it was pretty much a disaster. Missing parts on the 3pt system, seat was destroyed, levers and shifters missing knobs, linkages welded where they had been snapped, wheels were missing lug bolts. Dealer said it was used by an older man to for brush hogging and just piddling around the farm, but this was as rough as any rental tractor I've seen. The search continues...
