New holland 644 vs. vermeer 5410 rebel

Its really simple,the only option i didnt get on it was the bale level,I didnt know it wasnt on there til after the fact but the NH I baled with years ago didnt have one,and I didnt have to many lop-sided bales. I had a cple little green spots last time I baled only thing I noticed was the tractor bogged alittle in them.

I have a Rebel 5400, it is a good baler, I don't have net wrap though.

From what I've seen of New Holland balers they seem to eat damp hay better where a Vermeer will sometimes clog, especially at the beginning of a new bale.

The 5410 & beyond starts a bale differently than a 5400. The New 5410 & beyond uses a modified vertical chamber with a drum roller. The belts are always tight on the newer Vermeer balers. On the 5400 the belts need to have some slack in them to start a bale. There is nothing wrong with the 5400 but the 5410 and beyond is a progression of technology.
The main question is how much haylage do you plan to do? The 504M & 504N are better choices if you are a commercial silage producer.

I am not planning on doing alot of haylage just if the field has some green in it or if the field is still green and the weather is not going to workout later in the year like this year.

My M6800 Kubota pulls my Vermeer 505M Silage baler good in dry hay, but with high moisture hay would need 80hp+

If I hit very much with my 375 it gets wrapped around the roller .

Your 375 must not have a scraper for the starter roller or if it has one it's not adjusted correctly.

I bought a new New Holland 450 net wrap baler this year.. it makes a nice tight bale and only needs 40hp at the pto,, I pull it with a Montana 5740C,, I am starting to downsize so I am buying smaller equipment ,, it rated for 1000 bales a year.. you may want to look at it.. Lou

I know this is old thread but I just got my baler back from dealer(5410) and they up-dated my monitor to a EXPERT and changed the SPLICES on belts,for free(VERMEER),it will be a year old august.
