I'm looking at getting a NH 488 Haybine for mowing brome. I know it is important to mow no shorter than 4 inches. Can this haybine be adjusted to make sure that I maintain a consistent 4 inch or higher cut. My field is relatively even with only slow grading or sloping and not really hilly.

Thanks for any comments.

Yes it can. There are 2 presser feet or skid shoes (much like those on a sewing machine) on the bottom of the cutter bar assembly which are adjustable. You pull out a pin and set the foot to the height you want and put the pin back into the nearest hole that accomodates it. Maybe some trial and error to get exactly 4 inches because these feet wear and can be bent, too.
