345 d new holland
have a 1999-2000 345 d construction tractor/loader, having problem with power shuttle, the shuttle lever torque converter
button does not work, it is located on end of lever to activate. the tractor presently will move forward, but will not stop the
forward movement by moving lever to neutral, it will stop in reverse by moving lever to neutral position. also the transmission "dump switch" located on the L/H floor plate (square pedal) will not disengage the transmission when depressed. I was told to replace (1) the shuttle lever control (2) the transmission dump valve switch and possibly (3) the
computer "brain box" located on L/H side under cowl cover. The 3 items cost over $ 1100.00 and I would appreciate any
help as to if one of the three would solve the problem or is creating the problem.

thanks for your help, old equipment repair

when you move the lever from forward to neutral it still goes forward but if you pull it further toward reverse then it goes into neutral?
You need to isolate the other problem of not disengaging with the button, find the wires that come from that switch and with an ohm meter on those wires pushing the button should show you if it works. Then the pedal on the floor, if it is also activating a switch then you can make the same test. Start with that and let me know. We must isolate each item first, not just throw parts at it.

On the 4X4 transmission (1 transmission shift lever), the button on the shuttle shift lever is not functional. On the 8X8 (2 transmission shift levers and PTO), it locks up the torque converter.
The clutch pedal functions by cutting power to the transmission control module to throw transmission into neutral. It is a microswitch enclosed in the case. The older C-series used a simple roller switch to accomplish the same function.
You could bypass the shift lever to check, but odds are the shift lever is faulty. Likely a bad switch internally. The control module, even as old as it is at this point, is pretty durable and least replaced out of the 3 components.

reply to aircommuter and tractortech, I just located your posts, thanks for the replies. I R/R the shuttle lever with
shuttle switch, this solved the problems as to the trans, the floor plate "dump switch" on the left floor does not
disengage the torque converter when depressed, if the shuttle is moved to neutral the converter disengages. I removed the plug-in switch to test continuity and it appears 2 of the feed wires in the plug are not registering. what test would be acceptable (and how) to find if the switch is the problem and or the "brain box" attached to the inside of the left side removable column panel. both the "brain box and switch are expensive. one last question, is there a wiring diagram showing where these wires start and finish, the diagram on the new Holland
site were not much help. thanks again!

Again, the clutch switch just breaks the power going to the 'brain', so it is a normally on type switch. The plunger breaks the circuit. It might be cheaper and easier to fashion a momentary pushbutton in place of the factory switch.
As far as wiring, power comes from fuse #21 to the clutch pedal, then to the 'brain'. Not too much to it. If you want the whole transmission diagram, I might have it, but for your purposes described here, it won't do much for you.

Tractor Tech and aircommuter, thanks for replies, I'm afraid I did not give enough info on the tractor, it is a 345-d const. tractor with power shuttle torque converter, hi and low and I believe it is called 8x8, there is no clutch. I replaced the shuttle lever (complete plug in unit that has the torque converter button in the end of the lever that locks or disengages the torque converter) the tractor now functions as it should. The problem now is the "dump switch" dos not disengage the transmission when it is depressed. This switch is activated by a square pedal, not the round one that has the plunger switch. I hope this explains the situation, thanks again for your help.

Yes, it is an 8X8 and yes, the square pedal dump or clutch pedal interupts the power via the sealed microswitch (block with a channel through it). See my previous post to you for description.
