New Holland 2120 Transmission Issues

My transmission keeps getting Stuck in a gear. Sometimes Reverse sometimes 1st sometimes another gear. Have checked the linkage no issues there the shifter paw was worn welded it and ground to "fit better" but it still gets stuck and have to pull the top off and go in to free it up again. Is this a isolated problem that I am having or what??? I have searched the internet and don't seem to see any answers. Can someone point me to a repair of this issue???

I have a 1997 NH 1725 (28 hp Boomer) with the same issue. Could you better explain the welding repair you made so that I can try it on my boomer. If I were to remove the 3 bolts that hold the transmission shift lever and lift it out does that give me access to the end that needs to be repaired.

There is a "arm" that attach to the shaft that moves up and down in the transmission to actually shift the gears if you look at the transmission breakdown on the New Holland site it will help with what I am talking about. That is the one that we welded up to start with. Once you remove the shifter linkage from the shaft you then remove the top to look into the transmission. It is really surprising to how much it looks like the old what I call the Stack Shifter on the late 50's and early 60's ford 5 speed transmission. We split the case and inspected the shift rails and the shifting forks and have replaced the worn parts. Should get it back together this weekend and make sure there are no more issues with it.
