Ok guys you all have been a great help in me getting all my equipment. I got another smoking deal on a Nh 1469 haybine. Rollers look brand new and cutter bar looks perfect new knives just little rusted over from sitting in barn for 2 yrs. This has the Wisconsin Motor. We had not luck getting it to start but didn't have any tools or starter fluid. Was cranking good. Im not mechanically inclined but i can get this for 500 bucks. Im going to have to pay my local ag dealer to haul it home for me though. I have no way of getting this thing home. My neighbor who i will be helping makes hay says he know all about these Wisonsin motors cause his Skid Steer has one in it. My question is..

How are these units on slopes being hydraulic? I'm just very small operation but for 500 bucks i'm thinkin with shape of the haybine minus what motor might need done to it, it's probablly worth $1500 atleast once it's running. I'm hoping i can get my local ag dealer to haul it for like 200 bucks or so. It's out 70-80 mi round trip.

Just wanted to see what everyone's takes are on these self propelled haybines? It's just the 2 joysticks for steering doesn't have steering wheel column like newer models i guess. I honestly don't know about them. All this farming and haying is new to me.

Thanks all

DON'T use starter fluid. You could (or will) ruin the motor if you don't know what you are doing. Instead, see if there is spark, if not, then get spark by fixing the ignition system. Then see if there is any gas getting to the plugs. If not, then find out why. If you have some experience, then dribble a teaspoon of gas down the carb venturi to see if it will fire. I've used WD-40 spray (3 seconds worth) to help a dry motor start.

Check for rotted hydraulic hoses, wobble box grease, hydraulic oil levels, tire pressure, knife teeth, stone guards, hold down clips, roll chains, reel drive belt, sickle drive belt, radiator hoses and stick joint lubrication. Clean the windows in the cab, too. There is almost always dried mud, haylage, cow poop and oil fim on them. If it doesn't have a rear view mirror, add one.

I love to run a 1495. The way the reel teeth cycle is hypnotizing.

You can see all the parts and repair diagrams for this machine on the New Holland website.

Maybe something resoneable. If nothing else you could get most of your money back out of it just as scrap.

If the rollers are good, new, or at least solid and not delaminating that is half the battle with haybines. It sounds like it may be worth a shot anyway.

Realy? It has no steering wheel just 2 levers for steering. I duno just curious. It has a single dolly wheel in back. My neighbor says he will hav no problem gettin motor runnin. Im concerned if I can run on up n down hills with this machine.

You will have a learning curve to go through, but as long as they are not too step, you should be able to do hills, not mountains or cliffs. All differential steering started out as mechanical systems on the early track machines. In some instances the handles were the clutches, and you had individual foot brakes to make the turns tighter. Does that machine have a gear shift and foot brakes, or is it variable speed from the sticks?

The 1469 is a great machine, cut many acres with it. This is powered by hydrostatic motors, push forward on the joysticks to move forward and pull back to move in reverse. Speed is controlled by the foot pedal which controls a hydraulic activated variable speed belt. This is very easy to control once you get used to it. Probably will want to put new hydraulic oil in the hydrostatic system as this is an old model unless you know when it was changed last.
