LS MT242H, John Deere X300, Husqvarna MZT61
As stated, I am new here, and have never owned a tractor before, but have run skidsteers and other construction equipment most of my life. I'm stoked about getting this tractor for our property.

I just bought the new LS mentioned above which is coming in about a week or so. We also want to get a heavy duty Rhino TW26 6' brush hog for it. The tractor puts out 34.8 HP at the PTO and the cutter requires 35 HP and up.

Will this still work well together being .2 HP short? Wondering what your experience is, and/or thoughts are.

Thanks!

You probably won't have any problems using it at all. Maybe if the grass gets really tall.... then just slow down your travel speed.

I run a 6' finish mower on my 25 hp CUT, 17.8 PTO hp. Granted, if it's wet or too tall grass, then I have to slow down quite a bit. Otherwise, no problem.

Depending on how high and thick what you’re cutting is, generally start in low range and high rpms. If it seems line it’s cutting really easy, you can put it in mid range to speed up the progress.

If you’re moving in and out if areas if thick and thin grass, simply adjust the abive as necessary.

Keep an eye on the engine temperature. With higher grass, the chaff gets into the radiator screen and radiator fins itself, so after a few hours, it can be easy to have a hot engine.

I appreciate both of your posts and helpful insights. We wanted to ask a second party other than our dealer, and it looks like everyone is offering similar advice.

Thanks again!

Wondering if you purchased the Rhino TW26 6' brush hog? I'm picking up a 242HC later next week. Haven't purchased a bush hog but looking for a 6' of some type. Thanks

I have 2 40hp tractors, both with 6' brush mowers. As others have said, you will have to slow down in the taller/thicker stuff. Personally, I set the RPM of the tractor according to the 540 RPM icon/indicator plus about 50-75 rpm with the pto engaged, then match my travel speed to maintain the indicated rpm =< 50-75rpm

We went with the LS 6' heavy duty rotary cutter. We should be getting the equipment delivered soon.

I guess your dealer helped you pick that one out?
Sort of. With the zero % financing it made sense and was able to get a 12K 22' trailer as well under that zero %.
