Hey guys,

So i joined the site to post up in the projects section. The wife and i will be returning to Arkansas where we have about 38 acres waiting on us. We are interested in building a metal building to use as a home, while i go back to school. I'm looking forward to all the helpful knowledge/people on the site.

Is there a specific thread i need to stick around for my questions about building?

thanks guys,

Welcome from Georgia. Also do a search on pole barns there is a great deal of information in the archives.

A big welcome from Ohio. Look at every metal building manufacturer's site you can find. Write down every good idea you see. Write down all website addresses and phone number.

Look into constructing with Structural Insulated Panels (SIP). When you take the total price of building, SIPs may prove as cheap or cheaper.

Welcome home and welcome here! We built a Quonset hut when I retired and lived in it for over 5 years until I got the log house built. I would do it again in a heartbeat, but go bigger than you think....ours was 30x50 w/a 500 sq ft apt in one end. I wish I had gone 50x100 w/a 50x50 living quarters....but then again I would have never moved out:)

Here is my build thread...hope it helps:
