Been trying to hold off posting till I had some pix for everyone. Gettin a new Grand L 5740 with every option minus the radio. Boy have I got a lot of flack at the dealer cuz of that. It's kinda funny, especially the service manager is giving me a hard time. I explained that the factory radio sux for the money. I'm going to take a page out of 4shorts book for my radio. Anyway it's still undergoing modifications in the shop, but here's a look.:D Already starting my list of mods once I get it in my shop.

Thanks! No kidding. I'd wouldn't mind shadowing 4shorts or a few weeks just to see what I could learn. I've done a lot of fabricating myself down through the years, but I definitely don't have the experience or all of the tools that 4shorts has. Maybe if I spent more money in the shop instead of on tractors I would have the tools.

Congratulations on your new tractor, I really like the GrandL Series.

Our dealer doesn't recommend Kubotas radios though they will put one in if you want it. They have a couple of different cheaper brand they will put in or you can put your own in. I don't listen to radios, but put an economy model in for my sons.

Thank you! I'm getting pretty excited. I gotta go shop for a stereo and speakers. I think I'll go with another "mechless" like I put in the B3030. No CD player, all digital, SD card, USB, etc, only. I wonder if they have bluetooth aftermarket radios now. Hmmmm gotta check into that.

What added touches are you having done to your tractor?

Sure do. I was looking to get one for one of my older cars not to long ago but decided to just get an adapter to plug into the cigarette lighter and then it transmit through the FM radio but you obviously can't do that in you situation.

Nice tractor by the way!!!

Well, like I said everything but the radio. Loader, Heavy Duty 72" Bucket, Bolt on cutting edge, 3rd function hyd, 3 sets of rear remotes 1 with a float detent, rear wiper, rear and both side defrosters, top and tilt, swinging draw bar, draft control, pallet forks, QA loader bale spear, mid pto. I think that about does it.:D I decided that this time I wasn't gonna wish that I had had that option. I've never heard anyone say that they wished that they hadn't got an option. So....

Hey thanks. I started doing research on radios. Haven't narrowed it down yet, but getting close. Don't think that I'll be able to get a mechless with bluetooth, but that will be ok. I just don't even own a CD anymore. I used to have over 300, but went all digital years ago.

Wow, that truly is everything... besides a radio!:laughing:

Nice setup. I just purchased one as well. One rear remote with 3rd funtion on loader. I figured I could always add more rears later when the need arises. I also went with the rear defrost, wiper, and rear lights, since I'll be running a 7' rear blower (if it ever snows again!). I didn't go with the factory radio either. $400 seemed high for what it is. I have an older Alpine unit w/CD sitting on the shelf collecting dust that I'll probably drop in. Looks like the wiring, speakers, antenna are all there. Mine is also at the dealer being set up. I'm like a little kid waiting for Christmas! Keep us posted on your other mods.

Congratulations to High Compression & greenrider1 on your new machines. Your going to really enjoy these tractors. Mine is only used for snow clearing but we are having more snow so far this winter than we've had the few years so it's been a blast to try out our 5740. The hour meter just hit 17 hours yesterday.

All the mods I've done have worked flawlessly (31of them) including the vertical stack conversion which I just love so that was well worth the time and effort. More power than I need but it's nice to have it there if needed. PTO power for the blower is crazy powerful compared to the 4240 I had and the rear wheel weights are great as well and I have no need for chains. I've done a few more mods but I'm not ready to post them yet.
Enjoy your new tractors guys. You've made a great choice in buying a Kubota and especially a Grand L 5740.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Paul

Most of the Kubotas have the pigtailed harness plugged into the radio harness and tucked away on back of the radio opening. You just need the radio and speakers. The use of a multi meter to figure out the wires and it's installed. Nutt'en to it

Bucket hooks?

Thank you. As far as bucket hooks, on my B3030 HSTCC I frenched in a 2" receiver tube flush with the top middle of the bucket where I was able to pin in a hook, trailer hitch, winch etc. I'll probably do the same to the L5740. It is very handy. It is hard to take a plasma cutter and welder to the nice new orange paint, but it always turns out well with some new paint.

Congrats to you as well greenrider1 and thank you. I figured with a top and tilt taking up two of the remotes that a 3rd would be handy.

Thanks 4shorts. I'll look back at your post on the exhaust. I thought I remember you having to omit the muffler. I love the sound of the turbo, but I would be concerned about my residential snow removal and being too loud. I heard your video, but it's not the same as standing right beside it.

Do you have any pictures, I am in the planning stage of putting hooks on my 5030; no worries about pristine paint on mine.
