The dealer called yesterday and ask to come over and check some things Kubota told them are very important. Something to do with forward speed and reverse speeds. They are coming over next Wed.
I don't understand what the forward to reverse speed ratio would have to do with the hydro stalling out.
I'll let you know what happens.

The Tech. came over today and was checking things out. He noticed when he had me move the forward reverse pedal that it moved quite a way before it started to turn the shaft on the transmission. The set screw that is suppose to tighten the linkage on the tansmission shaft was loose, so, it was like only pushing the pedal about 3/4 of the way down in both directions.
Now it runs about 6 mph and climbs and backs up like I expected it to do.
I hope it keeps running like this.:D

I thought everyone has been saying that the less you press the pedal on an HST that the more power you have... like a lower gear. Is this not the case?

Your talking about the bigger tractor, like my L3130. If I start up a steep hill with the 3130 and keep pushing the pedal all the way down, it will stall out and kill the engine. But, if you leave off the foot pedal a bit it will continue to climb at a slower speed.

The smaller ones doesn't seem to work the same. It would just stop and the engine would keep running.

I don't know enough about them to understand the difference. The RTV 900 works different then either one of the tractors. It has the throttle hook directly witht he transmission. So a bunch of guys hook up a hand throttle to keep the engine running faster then with the pedal.
If you not completely confused, I am.

What you say makes sense. I have a Scotts/John Deere riding mower that is HST. I always remembered that to get up a hill I had to press the pedal farther... which was contrary to the "less pedal / lower gear" theory. Saying it is different in larger tractors that riding mowers makes sense. I thought everyone was saying that HST just worked that way. Guess there are different implementations...
