MF GC2310
I bought it last Oct. and it has done everything I've wanted to do with it just fine. The even 16K $ price included 3 hooks welded to the top of the FEL, a fabricated bolt on, to the bottom of the FEL, ball hitch, 7% sales tax, 2 hats, and a jar of blackberry jelly. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The first job that I did was move 34 tons of top soil. I was a little concerned about its FEL lift capabilities but quickly found out that it would lift whatever I could get in the FEL, even if it was heaped.

Here's a pic.

I had read on this forum about how handy the FEL is and how one will use it for all kinds of things. How true! Here's a picture of my #2 daughter, who was visiting at Thanksgiving from Northern Indiana, moving the top of a concrete bench to our "woods".
I won't let just anybody use or even drive my 2310, but I wanted my dau. and SIL to have some fun and, of course, I let my sweetie and my mother both take it for a spin down the driveway and back.

SIL helped me take down and cut up 8 large sassafras trees most of which had been dead since before we moved here. This is a picture of SIL just after pulling up one of the dead trunks. We would rock the trunk back and forth a couple of times using the FEL, chain it, then pull straight up. Using the BH would have made a bigger hole.

The previous owner had left the property natural which means, in the South, it was a real mess. Apparently they did not want to see, or be seen by, anybody. There was no lawn at all, just whatever that had grown since the last time the property was logged many years ago. You could not see the ground because of the native bushes, vines (mostly poison ivy), fallen trees, etc. There were a couple of places I was scared to even walk by because there was no telling what could have been hiding in there and jump out and get me. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I killed 6 copperheads the spring and summer after I cleaned up most of the mess. I "found" a bunch of native dogwoods that we didn't know was here when we bought our place.

Here's #2 dau. using the BH to pull a nasty native bush. It's nasty because it grows long roots close to the surface and new bushes pop up from the roots. The bush can get at least 15' tall and redbugs (chiggers) like to live in them.

Barton:

Great shots...in fact some of the best pic's I've seen of that tractor on this site, Thanks for sharing.

We've got a very old M.F. dealer in town and when I was shoppin' tractors I spent a lot of time at that dealer lookin' over the 1433v (still love that tractor) but the ways and means commitee "wife" said it was outside our budget. anywho they had one GC2300 on the lot and I got a chance to get a peek at it up close.....nice machine.

Barton, I hope you have fun on your 2310. That sure is a handy tractor. I was getting ready to buy a GC 2300 but decided to get a bigger tractor because of my 1 mile gravel driveway. I used to have a neighbor in Roanoke, VA that always bragged about his 25hp gasoline lawn tractor when he saw me on my little 14hp. If my wife ever makes me move back to the city the first thing I'll buy is a GC 2300. Then I'm going lawn tractor hunting. Seriously, you have a fine well built machine. I still want one.

Whiskey,

Thanks for the compliments and you are welcome; my pleasure to share the pics. I understand about the "ways and means commitee". Mine was very understanding and recognized that I needed help. She just didn't like the timing and expense and is expecting my beloved 2310 to be sold when the projects are done. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I have tried real hard to be very creative in using the 2310 to show her how great it is to have whenever we have to move or dig something. She hasn't retired yet so when she gets home I tell her how I have used the tractor and how much wear and tear on my body I have saved. She's tired of hearing about it already. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I had already moved countless tons of material, using a shovel and wheelbarrow, for several projects. But since we had a concrete driveway put in last fall, I could no longer have the material dumped close to where I needed it. We had topsoil prepositioned for backfilling but not enough.

The street pavement ends at our property line so I had the material dumped there on the county right away and needed to move it quickly before anybody said anything.

Todd,

Thanks, and yes I'm having great fun with it. I just don't get to use it enough! When I haven't used it in a couple of days, I get this antsy feeling come all over my body. I have found that the only cure is to jump on the tractor and dig up a couple of stumps or something. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I had to chuckle to myself when my SIL, when he finished pulling the stump, asked, "Why did we wait until the last day of our visit to do this?"

Cheers to all,

Nasty,

Do you have long surface roots and redbugs, too? Uh, nevermind, we better not go there. Tell you what. Just for you, I'll take another picture today, when the sun gets a little higher, and post it so you'll know our snow situation.

Jayc,

Thanks for the compliments. I would like to see a little more posting on this MF forum and especially about the GC2310. I know they are out there. My dealer had 7 2310s on the lot and was expecting more any day.

Cheers and Don't Eat No Dirt!
