New Garage

   / New Garage #31
In the works of building a new garage. However, I'm out to sea at the moment and will not be in . I'm drawing up plans just to see what it would look like. It has to be 24 feet wide, but it can be any length. I was thinking 40 feet. With a 6 on 12 pitch. I was going to put it on 4 feet of cement plus 8 foot walls, giving me 12 feet. What do you think of that size? Anyone have pictures or thoughts on their garages and wishes that might of had.

So, what's the final verdict?

A standard 2 car garage is 20 wide. So 24 is good.

Debatable. A 20' wide "two-car" is extremely tight if you try to store anything against the walls, or have an HD pickup, etc.

I went 30' wide for my "2-car" and freakin love it (two 8x10 doors). I have tons of room on the side walls for tools, shelves and other storage. And still have very generous room for opening doors fully on the two parked cars. Kids can get their bicycles past either side of either car safely, etc.

20 ft wide is a single at most.

Its going to be 24 x 40. Its not a car garage. I doubt any vehicle will be parked in it . Its mostly to work on some other equipment I have, projects. Store the few toys etc. Yes, 24 feet with two cars parked side by side wouldn't be that roomy. They poured the footer just yesterday. IMG_0062.JPG

I built my walls 14' high, was told that's how high they should be for a car lift, if you have that in mine someday, after 5 years my someday hasn't happened yet. I made the walls, boarded most of it than stood them up with tractor, this is where a FEL shines, how'd you get your walls up?

I have 4 feet of cement plus 8 foot walls. The floor will be poored a few inches over the foot to give maybe 11'9" or so of height from floor to ceiling I'm guessing. I am still at work, nearly a month now. So some guys are building it for me. But I was going to do the same thing if I was in there myself. How else would I get it tipped up. I probably would have built it in sections and tried. But yours don't seem to be flexing much at all while your pushing it up. Pretty good. You look like you get some use out of that Kubota. The overall size is 24 by 40 x 12high. 6/12 pitch.
