Kubota BX1870
Hi all. From a farm but been living in the city 15 years now. Always in the dairy business just different ends of it. Know alot about farm tractors, both facts and opinions, but little of the little compacts. Making some changes and gonna end up with a tractor of some sort most likely an Asian diesel in the 20-30 hp range with a FEL. Use will be snow removal and nudging logs to a as yet un purchased band mill.

So big dreams, small wallet and unbridled ambition.

Welcome to TBN.........

There is a wealth of info on this site for you to discover. Lots of tractor choices in the compact tractor market. I have the LS XR3037HC cab tractor for my snow plowing in the snow belt off Lake Ontario not far from you.

Thank you.

I see that LS place over your way on CL all the time, Weedsport I believe. Those LS prices seem appealing. Currently have my eye on a Kubota 2850 but I think it will sell before I can get it. Whites Farm Supply is very close so all else being equal dealing with them will make life easier. Though I'm not married to them either.

Whites has a pretty big dealership and I'm sure he could set you up with what you need. He's quite a hike for me or I would have considered going there. My LS dealer is in Pulaski only 20 miles north of me.
The place in Weedsport is no longer an LS dealer. He does have a couple LS tractors as leftover stock. He may have a tough time selling them without dealer support and may have to cut his losses and drop the prices down. I heard he took them to auction but they didn't sell. Whoever buys them would have to find a new dealer for parts and service. I think there is an LS dealer out your way also.

By golly I see your right there is a LS dealer in Utica, about 20 miles East. Pulaski isn't that much farther and I could go to Lakeshore Hardwoods.

As I poke around here I expect the new import/ old iron argument have come up before. I know I don't want a Farmall M with a trip bucket for my current need but am not completely sold on the new yet. JD 3010 with loader on CL for 7K. The Kubota is 9K. That 3010 will be going long after me and the Kubota are long dead. But, but, but................

I will say I'm having alot of fun with the search. I don't think my wife is to crazy about my constant shifting gears. I think see just wanted me to buy the Kubota so the searching would end.

Mahindra, Kubota, Kioti, TYM, LS, JD, Massey, Case, etc. all have good models in the 20-30HP range you seek. LS Mtron builds some tractors for Case, New Holland, McCormick, LS and others. Test out each tractor your interested in for operator fit, control location, general feel, etc. You've been around tractors before so you know what to look for. Lots of used tractors around the 10K price or less. Some brands have new 20-25HP tractors w/ loaders in the 10-15K range. Check the dealers out.
