I currently live in Boston (near the harbor) with my wife and three kids ages 11-14. grew up in the area though I spent four years in the Army, first as an enlisted 11B then later as an Airborne and Ranger qualified officer in 3-7 Cav, 3rd ID.

We close on a ski place in NH in a couple of weeks. The NH house has 12 acres of land, mostly wooded, with a mountain brook running across the front. It also has a 200 yard gravel driveway and over 1,000 feet of old stone wall, and I notice when they were building the walls many years ago they forgot a few.....

In Boston I have no need for a tractor, our lawn is about 4,000 square feet. We do have a serious snow thrower, an Ariens 1124 Pro, as the snow we get is heavy and often wind-packed. We use a Honda self-propelled for the lawn and a battery-powered string trimmer.

Made a thread here about tractor selection. Right now I am leaning towards a Kubota L3200 although I believe a B series would get the job done as well. A friend of mine is heavily lobbying for Kioti, two others have older Kubotas, and another has a somewhat larger Massey Ferguson. My brother in law has five tractors on his dairy farm but his needs are a lot different and I believe his "small" tractor is 75hp.

For hobbies in addition to the obvious one from my screen handle, we have a 24' sailboat in Boston harbor. I have a Triumph Tiger 1050 ABS and used to do half a dozen track days a season. Also have a Yamaha WR250R to chase my son around on his Honda CRF100F, and my wife took one look at the Yamaha Trailway 200 I brought home and took possession.

Bought a Stihl 271 chainsaw and plan to buy a serious string trimmer/brush cutter to do some reconnaissance of the property. I want to make sure that the land near the brook can support the weight of a tractor before buying one. Assuming it's solid a brush cutter will help clean it up a lot. There is also about a half acre of grass behind the house but I intend to use a small garden tractor to cut that.
