New Ford 8N Owner, 61 year old tractor!

I just recently purchased an 8N Ford tractor with a 5' mower. Brought it home, change the fluids throughout, sharpened the blades on the mower and went to our land and cut 3 foot tall grass/weeds like crazy.

Bounced the crud out of me because it so bumpy but never the less the 8N ran strong. Hope to learn some new stuff here on TBN.

They are a lot of fun to drive and it's a real piece of history. I used to have a Ford Jubilee and I miss it. I learned to drive when I was about 10 yrs. old on a 8N or 9N - I can't remember which.

Be very careful with the clutch ..the front ends on 8N's & 9N's are real light and if your foot slips off the clutch that front end will come up on you, especially going up hill with your bush hog behind you & if that happens you have to depress that clutch fast or the tractor can come over on you...be careful and have fun !

Welcome. Can you image how excited the first owner was when it replaces his pair of mules.

A lower gear can remove a lot of bumps.

They are great tractors. If I had the room to put it, I would buy another 8N. It would be a real blemish on my green stable, but would do it anyway.

They are fun to drive. I logged a lot of timber with an 8N and logging tongs in the 60's. Sometimes with two guys riding the hood to keep the front end down.
