Just got the fuel filter replacement kit for my BX 25D.
Never having seen or handled one of these filters before, it is pretty obvious how it works but it came with a spring inside the filter bowl. I assume it goes under the filter element to keep it up against the top?
The filter element is paper with metal top and bottom and the bottom has an indent about the size of the spring. Just looking for confirmation that it goes there under the filter element. Thanks!

Yes. Typically the spring goes between the bottom of the translucent bowl and the filter.

How about some info on that filter. I have not found something like that one in a lot of research.

This filter and housing comes on the bigger Kubota tractors. Kubota has the replacement filters right in stock too.

I bought this same filter and housing in a complete kit for my BX23s. There is a gentleman on ebay that makes the complete kit. (ebay - botasandy)
The guy that builds these kits has everything to install it on the BX tractors, all the hoses & clamps. It deletes the factory filter up under the seat.
The total install only took me an hour. And if you`ve ever had that tiny filter under the seat gel up in winter on you, this kit ends that problem.
Not to mention, it is a whole lot easier to change out this filter cartridge than crawling under the tractor to change the factory tiny one.

Mike (botasandy) is a super nice guy. His kit is the only kit out there that is spot on and fits very well. It is well worth what you pay him for it.
He also has other stuff in his ebay sales that he builds for the Kubota`s too.

Here is a link to the filter kit. This is the exact kit i bought for my BX23s. The price is well worth it!

Yes that’s the one I just bought! Every winter I have had the fuel filter freeze up with the original tiny crap filter. No more!

Yes sir Mowbizz, absolutely a must have on these lil tractors. Its so miserable trying to get to that little tiny crap filter up under the tractor.
And who wants to get up under there to change that stupid little crap filter when it needs replacing. This kit is the REAL deal!

I might be able to find the page where i listed mine on here when i did mine. If i find it, i`ll post the link to it in here.

This post renewed my search for something long this line. Thought about the Marine industry, inboard boat motors have these type filters.
$150 is lot of money for a basic filter unit. Shows up the asinine pricing of OEM parts and Ebay entrepreneurs.

Even at the premium prices you pay for a marine filter, several units are available on Amazon for under $50. Then $10 worth of fittings and hose. Found one that is only 5" high. Mounting it outside the frame rails is convenient; however, for my uses it would be extremely vulnerable to getting ripped off. The 5" one would mount inside the frame rails and not extend below. Even thought of using two and replacing both filters. I could provide a kit of 2 and all pieces required for $100 and make $40 profit. Project for this winter to add to my BX.

Of course here in Puget Sound we do not have the potential gelling problem a lot of you have so convenience of changing the filter can is not as important as we are not laying in the snow changing it.

Well Ron,
i looked at it at a different light... what does a person pay to have their tractor taken to the dealer for a cold (frozen filter) starting problem. How much do people pay to have their tractor serviced where they change out that little filter underneath the tractor. When you add all that up over the life of this kit, where people can access it much easier, can at a glance see if its gelled up, water in the fuel... i think what i paid for the kit i bought, surly pays for itself many times. Pure satisfaction to be able to work on it without having to run to the dealer to do the job. I guess its how people look at it all. For me, it was a very simple choice. Now, if you can get the kit cheaper, and your method works out better for you, by all means, GREAT! I went the route that was easier for me, at the time when i bought this tractor brand new in 2017, and i`ve not had one lick of trouble with gelling, or cold starts. Yay Kubota! Its over 2yrs later, i still love this little tractor as much as the day i bought it brand new.

And $150 isn`t alot of money to buy the complete kit with ALL the hoses and clamps with the kit that fits your exact tractor. And Mike sends you well documented instructions WITH pictures too. His kit is spot on. I`ve not found a better kit.

PaPow,

My comment was not aimed at people's spending. You have a valid reason, so fine. In my case and probably at least 50% of us here on TBN, we do all our own work so we can customize what fits for us. We avoid expensive dealer shop prices and have soul satisfaction on doing it our-self. We buy OEM parts as a last resort or the only source. In 1500 + hrs I have not encountered anything I could not do, except a major casualty repair funded by KTAC.

Well said Ron.
i`m with ya... i too, can work on my own stuff and i can do everything on all my equipment. Engines, transmissions, all of it. Your points are just as valid as mine. We`re of the lucky few that WE can do our own work. I just feel bad for those who cant. That was my main reason for bringing up the simple thing as a aux fuel filter in a better location so a person dosent have to go to the dealer to have a filter thawed, or replaced. Over a short period of time, it surely pays for itself.
