New F-150 Motor Lineup

Actually it makes about 420 FT tq at 2500 rpm and makes 90% of that at 1700 rpm. I will see if I can find the torque curve again.

Chris
I'll believe that when I see it, and we do plan on putting it on a DynoJet dyno as soon as I or one of my fellow truck nuts gets our hands on one.

That engine in the Taurus SHO was completely gut-less until about 5,000 rpms. I understand they rearranged the fuel mapping, boost, ignition timing, etc... for truck duty but six little pistons displacing just 3.5 liters can only push down so hard at low rpms. I anxiously await some real results.

I could not find the good graph I had. Here is a pic of it.

The dash line represents the turbo lag. As you can see it comes alive very early. The 5.3 GM is not a fair comparison but the Tundra comes alive around 4,000 rpm and the Hemi higher yet at around 4,500 rpm.

Test drives don't allow for good dyno time at our personal speed shop.

Like I said, I'll believe it when I see it. A "dyno graph" that looks like it was drawn with crayon is hardly reputable.
And if that "graph" is true then that HEMI that you think is a high revving only engine is beating the rest of the trucks down low...

You are a smart man so you know its all how the entire package works together. These graphs do nothing more than give you a general idea but you need to factor in the tranny, axle, and wheel/tire size to feel what it will do.

I have done the hard work for you so give it a try.

They have a 60 city tour where you can go test drive the truck or you can set op a appointment and they will bring it to you. At the test drive locations I have heard they are going to have a dyno where you can run it against your current truck, trailers that you can tow to test its abilities, ect.

Personally I have had 3 turbo Powerstrokes and 1 turbo Dmax and have about 350,000 miles between the 4 diesel trucks and have never had a issue with a turbo. I usually wait maybe 10 seconds at most before shutdown.

Averaging 90K per diesel heavyduty truck... you're really working them.

I currently only have 2. I drive about 25,000 miles per year on my vehicles each. Right now I have the F250, F350, and Titan.

I've now seen it and now have even more reason NOT to believe the Ford advertising hype. Granted it makes good power for a V6 but stop calling it "diesel like" when it's actual peak TQ doesn't occur until after 4,000 rpms and 90% of it's peak is not until 2800 rpms not 1700. It doesn't really wake-up until over 2300 rpms when it finally reaches over 200 lb.ft. of torque. I'll stick with normally aspirated V8's for truck work, keep that Turbo V6 in the cars.

Yep, I agree with ya. These numbers do not match what was previously released. I like a motor that makes power on the low end, been saying that for quite some time. Main reason I bought the Titan. It would seem to me that the turbos are not spooling up quick enough to get it into its power band.

I still want to drive one. I now know 2 guys with the 5.0 motor and its nice. Seems to have as much power to the ground as any other V8 gas motor I have driven including older big blocks, Hemi's, Toyotas, and Nissans. That may end up being the motor of choice. My father has went back and forth with the Turbo V6 and the V8. I wish he would just order one and get rid of his Explorer.

My 740hp 572ci big block in my Biscayne has some pretty serious low end power. It's not in a truck though and I really don't want to discuss fuel mileage...
