New Explorer

I downloaded the new explorer. its free.
And I wasnt sure if id like it or not but its great once you get used to it.
One thing thats good is the tabs, it allows you to have more things open in one box.
one "trouble' I had, was everytime I opened explorer, it would open a seperate tab with the yahoo news.

Anyway if you get there and have the same problem. go to tools and internet options. I found that I had two "home" pages one yahoo and the other yahoo news. I deleted the yahoo news and added the addy for TBN.
So now when I open the explorer, I get yahoo. AND TBN very convient.
Now to work out my troubles with i spell

I "downloaded" it last week quite by accident....I wasn't paying good attention during a windows update. So far I hate it. Don't like not being able to put the URL part of the menu on the lowest level (it seems locked at the top of the page) and I don't know what happened, but my email (I use Outlook Express) seems to be randomly NOT downloading attacments/pictures from some email since the change. I don't understand why IE 7 should impact that, but the timing of both is identical. In general, I think the tabs feature may end up being nice for reducing task bar clutter, but I just don't like the different presentation of the menu bars.

Change is always bad. Always.

I am sure there is a way to go back. I know I did nit a week ago, after I didnt like it. Im not sure where, but I searched it and downloaded the older version.
Im no expert but have to learn lol.
Maybe some one here will be able to help you.

I'd like the new IE7 if it would work right for me. I still have it installed hoping Microsoft releases a patch for it, but I'm not holding my breath. If you want to remove IE7 and go back to IE6 open Control Panel. Go to Add/Remove Programs and scroll down til you see Windows Internet Explorer 7. Select it and then click Remove.

I use SeaMonkey by Mozilla which is where FireFox comes from. Anything Mozilla is better than Microsoft.

I downloaded IE7 on my laptop that I use for school. Had several problems with it and have already removed it and am back to IE6. JayC is correct, just remove IE7 following his directions and your computer should automatically default back to IE6.

Put the Menu bar back on top (where it belongs):

IE7 is one of the reasons I don't like Automatic Updates turned on. I prefer to decide for myself what updates I install. I would be pretty mad to turn the computer on one day and find IE7 sitting there. Even if IE7 worked properly for me, I don't think I could go back to having that as my default browser. I've been using Firefox since version 1.0.3 and with the extensions available, it really is the best choice for me. I've been checking the Microsoft newsgroup for IE hoping there will be mention of a patch or something. My problems are probably not as common, but I am not the only one with these problems.

Sounds like you downloaded the Yahoo version of IE7. As much as I like Yahoo, I still prefer the standard MS version. Essentially they are the same except for a few things Yahoo bundles with it. With the Yahoo version you get the Yahoo toolbar (not to fond of it), the two home pages that you already mentiomed, and a whole slew of search options on the search box next to the address bar. I have never been a fan of toolbars. They just use more space on the screen and really don't make things any easier.

IF you did as I did, and "removed" IE 7 via the control panel, you may be in for some unpleasant surprises. I got locked out trying to make some last minute online trades with Fidelity.com, and eventually got someone in their website help department....too late to make my trades for the day btw . Guy was very helpful, said they have been inundated with calls...apparently it is all but impossible to COMPLETELY remove IE 7, and using add/remove programs does not do it. He showed me (ok, led me to) some components of IE 7 that remained embedded in the IE 6 I "reverted" to. These components cause rips in the time/space continuum , and other effects such as causing some links to not work or not work properly. The link(s) to preview and complete a trade on Fidelity's website are among those that no longer work when this happens. Forewarned is forearmed.
