Kioti DK40SE
I'm soon to buy a 4x4 tractor with FEL. Local Kioti dealer quoted me ~$23,700 for a new 2013 DK45SE with HST. Same dealer also has a 2011 DK45SE HST with 79 hours listed for $20,900. I've also found a 2008 DK40SE HST with 617 hours listed for $15,250. The 2011 looks as new except for some paint worn off the bucket. I've not laid eyes on the 2008.

Do these prices sound fair (I'm in OK)? I'm assuming there's a bit of wiggle room in the used ones. Buying used, or slightly used, means I can buy more implements!

Other than HP/hours, is there any difference between the 2008, 2011, and 2013 models?

I plan on getting the tires filled. Is there any way to positively tell if the tires are filled on a used tractor?

I would chose door #2 push the tire valve in and see what comes out.

I'd also go with the second one, maybe see if you can get a little more off, or get something free with it..back blade or something.

Not bad prices.. for all of them, the one with 79 hours would interest me the most. See if the hydraulic filter in front of the RR tire has been changed. It should be changed at 50 hours. The edge of the original would be paint sealed with the dark gray paint. 79 hours is not much, just barely broken in.. the paint scrapes on the loader happen fast. There is no real difference in the year models. Make sure the valve stem is near 6 'oclock. and push in and see if fluid comes out or air.

Are the 013 & 011 both set up with same options (same tires, rear remotes, etc.)? If so the only thing gained with the new one is the 2 year full warranty. If the warranty is worth $2800 to you then go new, it wouldn't be worth it to me. Make sure the 50 hr. service has be done, including hydraulic fluid & front axle fluid. That is worth another $400, approximately when done at dealer. If you don't "need" the extra 5 HP then the 2008 DK40 might be a consideration, but definitely check out the maintenance records on it.

I'd probably go with #2, and try to get them down to $20k. I'd stick with the 45 over the 40 for the extra PTO power, which will let you run bigger implements, or do so more easily.

I looked at the 2008 DK40SE today (the 2011 sold before I got there). There aren't any records to go with it, but appears to be well cared for. The only negatives were a small tear on the side of the seat, a tiny crack in the grille, and a small ding on the cover of one steering cylinder (nothing rubbing here). The rear tires are filled.

I then got the salesman to let me test drive it. It started right up and sounded good. The only thing that didn't work on it was the horn. There was a rattle coming from the two small inside links on the FEL. Is this normal? I got down and checked it out. There is no damage on the FEL, just enough play to rattle while driving.

I was rather impressed with the overall condition for having 618 hours. This Kioti sure drives nice. I'll probably go make an offer tomorrow and hopefully buy my first tractor.

Thanks for all the replies.

The rattle might be coming from the FEL stands.

What are the "two small inside links on the loader." Are you talking about the stands?
