New Deutz Tractor

My guess is, that tractor was demoed, I know I've demoed "new" tractors before, and someone had to buy them "new" after.

I think the new tractor I bought last fall had less than one hour on the clock when I brought it home.

I don't remember how many hours were on mine. Not many. If it has been on the lot, it will get hours from 'test drives', repositioning, in addition to any movement for final inspection, add-ons, and loading it to ship. I wouldn't worry about a few hours. I'd probably worry more if it was really low. Did they even test it out before they got it to me?

Bigger issue being the silence. That doesn't speak well of the dealer.

I have noticed an uptick in dealers carrying the D-F tractors. So far, they have just been an additional brand, not new dealers. If you like the tractor, there are likely other options for dealers.

My LS had 10 hours on when delivered but my dealer told me that ahead of time so it didn’t bother me at all, it still looked brand new, he picked it up from a dealer in Iowa . 500 hours later I’m still very happy with my dealer and the tractor.
But it is very easy to understand why the original poster in this thread might decide to change his mind about buying from the dealer he has been dealing with.

I would LOVE to find a D-F dealer near me in New England.
The last time I needed parts to repair a broken front axle on the Hurliman Prince, I went through an outfit in Georgia. (They were great,,,, at first! ;-)

Well, I told the dealer not to deliver the tractor. I’m not interested in the tractor anymore want a refund.
Was told that the warranty and tractor was already assigned to me and that they have never had anyone back out of a deal.
Guess I’ll be a first then. Cant imagine it’s any harder than going in the computer and unassigning the tractor through the dealer portal. I never signed anything for a warranty and the tractor has never been in my possession. This was the absolute worst large purchase experience I’ve ever had. From the salesman to the managers. Hopefully I get my money back sooner than later. They sure were quick to take it.

I don’t blame you a bit, pretty sure I’d of done the same, having a good dealer you’re comfortable with means a lot.
If you don’t mind me asking what was the ballpark price on that 4065?

That's got to be a disappointment but it sounds like the dealer was jerking you around. I can be pretty patient but once somebody has my money I want something in return.

Agreed. I'm also a one and done guy. I do don't tend to go back for 2nd chances if I've been messed around by a business.

In fairness, I gave my current dealer a 2nd chance as the problem was 100% his former salesman. So far so good. (New owner?/manager)

I’ll never go back. I’ll never recommend them either.

Got your money back yet? I'd be speaking with the owner directly at this point.

The owner called me Thursday after I left a VM saying don’t deliver it and I want a refund. I explained everything to him from the missed delivery, and the non communication and the lack of call backs with updates. He started to contradict what his employees were telling me. When I asked for a refund, that’s when I was told they couldn’t do it because the tractor was already assigned to me in the Deutz system.
Friday I received another call from him stating the check was in the mail.
I asked for a tracking number, but one wasn’t provided. Which seems completely stupid to me, to send such a large check snail mail without tracking. But, what do I know.
I already found another tractor and as soon as I get that check. Will be buying it.
The new dealer is closer by an hour but in another state. New place is $1000 less delivered with the same attachments I bought at the first dealer. Wish I would have shopped them first instead of staying in state.

I realize there may be two sides to Hunterpup's dealership experience. But I'm glad he is making his side known.

Twenty years ago, complaints about uncaring & arrogant dealers were rare.
I've been here on TBN for over 20 years and watched the number of such complaints steadily grow.
I'm not sure what will change that attitude, but ignoring it is probably not a cure.

Anyway, I hope Hunterpup will continue to post his experiences with this new tractor dealer and how the new tractor works out.

Well, as of yesterday no refund. I have the usps informed delivery, so if I don’t see it today, my next plan will be to call the state’s attorney office, Deutz Fahr America, then the dealer association, and the State’s corporation commission and possibly. There is no reason for my refund to take this long to travel 200 miles.
I take it the owner lied when he said the refund was mailed Friday.
I wasn’t planning on leaving a review. Oh, but now, definitely!

/ New Deutz Tractor #58
He likely will give you excuse after excuse but hopefully I'm wrong.
Given the quality of the mail service I wouldn't give up yet.

I've had checks take a week to travel 20 miles, but that was because the USPS scanner read a "0" as "6" so it got here via Missouri. It always seemed to happen when I needed the money most. :(

It sounds like you dodged a bullet by not buying from him. I think his brother might have sold LS in Maine, starting when they were Montana.

When I was planning on buying a house in Tennessee near my companies headquarters, I opened a bank account there ... 2 years later I found a house in Missouri near one of there terminals ... I asked the bank to close my account, they couldn't/wouldn't wire the money to me in Arizona because I was not there in person to sign the wire instructions ... They mailed, with no tracking, wasn't certified or anything ... Well into the 6 digits ... It showed up in my mailbox with the rest of the mail ...

Give the slow unreliable mail a chance ...

Seriously take a breath and don’t start escalating based on the USPS. The mail service is indeed slow and unreliable as stated by previous post. Let’s say it was put in their outgoing mail on Friday but after the carrier had delivered/ picked up earlier in the day. It might not have actually started traveling until Monday.
I’m a small business owner and we aren’t open on the weekends. Our carrier skips our building on Saturday.
None of those entities are going to take you seriously based on the short amount of time the check has been in transit. You are coming off as vindictive and not as an injured party at this point.
I would advise to calmly communicate with the dealer with the truth which is that is a large amount of money for you and you need it for something else. Ask for a check number and verify it was sent. Be professional and polite. This is a business deal it isn’t personal adding tension doesn’t solve your problem.
