Well, thanks to the wealth of information on TBN, and a lot of research, I purchased a JD 4720, and it was delivered this morning! The two weeks it took to set it up seemed like an eternity. I logged about 4 hours in the seat today, moved and piled up some dead pine trees I had cut down this winter. This is an awesome machine - I think I'm going to love it.
I looked at blue, orange and green, drove orange and green, and just became very comfortable with the Deere dealership and salesman. I originally wanted a 4520 (based on several comments on TBN about frame/hp on the 4x20 series), but the dealership had a 2009 4720 on the lot that was ordered for a customer 9 months ago, but whose financing fell through.
I went with a canopy, 400 CX loader, a JD 4-in-1 SS bucket with SS attachment carrier, auto style cruise control, work lights, and R4s. Out the door, it went for $34.5k. Not sure how good the deal was, but I'm happy with it. I traded my 1994 Ford 3230 (4100 hrs), and got what I think was a fair trade of $6k. I also took advantage of the 48 mo, 0% financing (read - free money).
Attached is a picture - already a little muddy! Thanks for humoring me
