New JD D170 / 54" deck Lawn Mower owner. Nope, don't consider it a tractor, for me it's dedicated to mowing.

Bought at Lowes rather than JD dealer simply because of the 10% veteran's discount offered every day there.

My first hydrostatic tranny, I posted a question here http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/...ending-k46-transmission-life.html#post4759519

Also own a Yanmar 336D w/Yanmar loader, genuine legal non-grey-market import when Yanmar was sold in the US, but that's not the reason for joining - though faded and with a few dings it's still just a reliable workhorse after 27 years in my possession .

Welcome TX.

When we were first moved to our first property in the country I bought a new JD 170 with a 14hp Kaw. and a 38" deck. We mowed 2.3 acres for 9 years and never had a single problem with that mower. I also mowed church yard and loaned it out some so it had mowed a ton of grass. I sold it for $600 about 10 years later and it still ran fine... had a little slop in the steering wheel. I was pretty sure it wouldn't hold up the new property which was 5.7 acres.

Hope you have good luck with yours too!
