Hello,
I have an older Serco 4000 with bypass bucket. When I turn the bucket, the momentum keeps it going maybe 10 to 20 degrees after I let off the lever. The bucket will also turn by itself a small amount--just coasting, doesn't seem to be under any power. Do I need a new cushion valve, and if I do, what kind of relief pressure should it have?

Sounds like a sticking valve(slow acting);cushion valve won't help ,I don't think.May slow it down but not stop it.
A flow control "may" help.

Get a pressure gauge and test the valve. I have a cushion valve on the swing for my BH I built, when I first used it the reliefs were set too low and has too much movement after I let off the control under normal use.
I can't remeber the exact pressure I set mine over the main relief but you would be safe as long as they are set at the working pressure for the components. You could most likely go over a bit as as long as its below the max pressure for the components.

Thanks, guys. Sounds like a pressure gauge is the way to go, maybe testing both the control valve and the cushion valve. Thanks.
