I have been doing some research, and read many of the posts here in regards to the 2006 1042 Cub Cadet. I am having one checked out for purchase now from our local long time dealer,Lamb&Webster a large Case IH/New Holland/Kubota.CC dealer. They are a good, top of the line outfit. I called about my concern over the posts in regards to the belt tensioner problems on the 1042. They assure me that the tractor will have a heavy spring installed and that the new batch of tractors should have this problem corrrected at mfg. I understand that this is an entry level LGT and that is is not built to do anything but mow lawn. We have a lot of machinery around here for other heavy tasks. We also have a 110 John Deere that has been with us for many years and still works quite well, but with two propertys now and the old JD getting a bit long inthe tooth I wanted my own unit for this yard. The dealer is less than 10 miles from me and will do the service if needed, My question is this, considering the above do you feel that this tractor will give decent service with out making me pull my hair out?? I enjoy mowing lawn on weekends as I work as a truck driver and equipment operator in construction, and I enjoy taking good care of our machines, I just want a decent cheap machine that will do a good job. any thoughts? I have not signed the papers yet.. thanks TimT.

Another Western New Yorker! A 1042 will serve you well as an easy terrain mower. They are nothing like the JD 110, but not much has been for a loooong time.

G/luck
