Don't forget other vehicles.... :)

Rancho

Or Gardens! I was mowing on the H (4000#, 5 speed manual) and was headed down slope toward the raspberries and forgot that the brakes alone aren't gonna stop the thing. 3s later I had the front end in the middle of the patch. That's what I like about HST, when you come off the pedal, the tractor, if it doesn't stop, at least slows dramatically. As you've learned, the loader really blocks visibility, watch carefully for objects on the ground in front, especially when mowing. Also, remember when turning in reverse, the loader is up front going the opposite way you're turning, watch out for objects, because the tractor is going to win most of those (Also found out the hard way)

I'm very familiar with clutch and reversing directions as a child of the 60's when muscle cars and I enjoyed many a mile. A clutch is a clutch is a clutch, if you get my drift. Unless I was speed shifting to impress the gal in the passenger seat, I realized replacing clutches wasn't on my top 10 things to do :). Slow, clutch, stop, change, ease clutch and slow start. I need this tractor to last quite some time :)

Good thinking. But a tractor clutch is much harder to replace than on a car. To replace a tractor clutch the whole tractor must be split in half where the transmission (which is the back end of the tractor) is bolted up to the bell housing. Of course, all the electrical, hydraulic and mechanical linkages at that point need to be undone too. Depending on the operator, a clutch can last a lifetime or a day, so be kind to your clutch. Don't feather the clutch to slow down. Almost all transmission work also requires splitting the tractor so shift with care: no speed shifting, if you please.

Advice well heeded and many thanks. You fellas have been of great assistance to a rookie tractor owner. Common sense trumps most things, heavy machinery is unforgiving. I am so very glad I found this forum. Great information and given with class and decorum.

One of the big questions here is always ... 50 hour service. To change just filters or the UTF also.

I followed the owners manual to the letter and kept receipts, it to me was the best because Kioti would have zero issues if a problem had happened. My dealer told me that they did not change fluids except oil and antifreeze. I did find a few shavings attached to the plug magnets at the 50 hour change.

I agree with k0ua, ask them all bro! It's far better to ask the group than wish you asked later! Most questions get a reply within a couple hours... If you are in a super hurry then your dealer will be your best option. Did you post any pix of the tractor??

Will be switching out the brush hog for the box blade today. THIS will be interesting as it'll be another first. A kind word to the Big Guy upstairs that I maintain all my fingers and toes. Yes, the tractor will be OFF, parking break engaged and no chance the PTO will be turning/engaged or otherwise fixinta maul me

Any last minute tips and tricks other than making sure I'm on level ground and the attachments are on the ground and NOT in the UP position (I figure that might be disastrous as well as impossible to switch out) .

Had another hour put in yesterday without any issue whatsoever. No people/buildings/vehicles nor animals injured in this event. :dance1:

when hooking up an implement, back tractor up so that the 3PT arms are just in front of the implement. Use the telescoping arms to get exact length right. Line up the left (clutch) side arm of the 3PT with your position control and get it pinned on, then use the adjustable link on the right to get the other arm on. Then the top link. Adjust top link for desired angle of implement. Lift implement and make final adjustments and your good to go. If you have a PTO shaft, after arms connected, turn off tractor and put in on, then continue. Be careful when working on back of tractor.

This method has worked well for me, I can't imagine living without position control. Again, be careful. If a kid or something playing on the tractor and backs it up with you back there...very ugly.

Thanks Tony, exactly what I needed to learn concerning sequence. No children or dogs will be around. I keep my pups inside when I'm working the tractor as they aren't quite familiar with me on IT and get excited and want to ride. Won't allow it on the tractor, they get riding time in the truck ;) . Having reclaim much of my acreage from overgrowth I'm now concentrating on the circular drive which became so overgown over the years from sticker grass and weeds, even with constant spraying of Roundup and hoeing the stubborn tap roots beasts. Once I get it leveled and cleared I can get a mixed stone/gravel and really set it off. We bought the place knowing it needed repairs/landscaping and other issues and this equipment has been wonderful. Thanks again for the tips.

... Use the telescoping arms to get exact length right...

I don't have telescoping lift arms. Fixed length on left and adjustable on right. I was thinking of getting Pat's attachments to make it easier.
