Kubota BX25D-1
What model tires come on a new BX25D-1? I was leaning toward R4's, but am now going back to thinking R3's. Most of my work will be on the lawn: mowing and landscaping the edges with the BH and FEL.

I have recently learned that not all R3's are created equal. Who makes the turf tires Kubota uses and which model is it?

Does anyone know the ply for the R4's vs the R3's? I know R4's generally have more ply, but that it can be different, from model to model.

If anyone is willing to post good pictures of the turf tires the BX25D-1's come with, I would appreciate it.

the r4's are industrial tires and i think that r3's were the farm tractor type of tires.

You can get whatever tires you want at purchase for no difference in price (usually).

R1 are what youd traditionally call tractor tires, tall, chevron lugs. AKA Bar tread.
R4 are what youd see on a kid steer, similar to R1 but shorter, fatter lugs. AKA industrial
R3 are what youd see on a lawn mower, lots of smaller squarish lugs. AKA Turf

For lawn work R3 are best, but you can get away with R4s. R4s arent too hard on the lawn if you are careful. If youre looking for a multipurpose tire, R4 are probably the best. R1s can be hard on the turf, but if you have severe slopes or wet ground, they might be easier in the long run because youll slide and spin less.

FYI, Kubota OEM R4 tires generally suck. They are imported from Thailand. They have a really bad sidewalls. I just replaced one yesterday on my BX. Completely weathercracked and leaking. The other side is starting to go too. A search on TBN for bad BX tires will tell you all you need to know. I believe the R3s are better quality. The R3s on my ZD are still OK with no sign of delamination or breakdown.

If you see yourself doing a fair amount of heavy lifting, the R4's with the stiffer sidewall will hold up better. I'm sure they sell it, but I have never heard of anyone on TBN getting turfs with the backhoe.

Turfs came on my BX25.

Have been used for a variety of jobs: lawn mowing, FEL loading gravel & dirt, plowing snow, front snow blowing, BH jobs, box blading driveway.

In all cases the turfs have performed well with no complaints. Good traction in snow without chains or weights. As others have said if loader work is the primary task then the industrial type may function better than the turf tire.

One thing with the front turfs I had to install tubes due to slow air leaks.

The BX is a great toy er I mean tool!
