I just ordered a bx2230 from my dealer tonight. I am getting it with a FEL, MMM, and a front snowblower. I am thinking about a cab now. Any recomendations? I blow open a 1/4mile plus driveway so getting out of the weather would be nice.

Good luck wth your new toy aaa I mean tool.
/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifI have a Sims cab on order web page

Did you add a block heater, high output alternator, 4 way valve for the FEL, bar and turf tires?

I think you basically have 2 options- Sims, as previously posted or Curtis:

I have a Curtis on my B2410 and am very happy with it. I don't have a cab on my BX2200.
Adding the cab significantly changes the character of the tractor and since I spend more time mowing in the summer than snowblowing in the winter, I bundle up and make the best of it!!

Yep, box blade and toothbar are must haves.
Flames for the hood are optional.

Yes I did get the 4-way valve, FEL, and turf tires. I am also getting the tires loaded, tire chains for winter use, and a rear drag blade to scrape the driveway clean after snowblowing. How do you like the sims cab? How do you like the soft doors? Do you leave it on year round? My only concern with a cab is that it will make the tractor top-heavy. I do alot of side hill mowing so center of gravity is a concern.

I forgot to mention in the above post that my local dealer told me Kubota is offering a factory cab for the bx2230 now. Anyone have any details on it? The only thing the dealer knew was that it was expensive.(@$3500)

DRT,

I do not have the cab yet, it's on order and I hope to have it in a few weeks. I plan on taking the cab off during the summer. I understand from others it is easy to remove. I plan on buying a hoist from Harbor Freight ($75) and using it to pull it off and on with. I believe it is not heavy, 150 lbs or so. I have a canopy for summer use, so off the cab comes.
$3500 for a cab when you can buy one for $1700, I do not know how many Kubota will sell??

I have the 2200 with the Curtis Cab. It is a great improvement for snow removal. My brother-in-law has a 3430 with a factory cab, and if money isn't any object, the factory cab is sweet..........it just wasn't an option for me. The Curtis Cab still leaves a lot of areas for air to enter, under the seat being the worst area. I ended up stuffing some fiberglass pink insulation in every hole I could find. We had a bit of snow last week, with some 5°F temps last week, and I was quite comfortable.

Yes, cancel the order, move to Texas, and order a canopy instead!

does anyone have any pics of the cabs mentioned above? The curtis page doesnt have a good pic and the dealer doesnt have a pic of the factory option.

Still looking for some pics of the curtis cab and also the factory cab. How unstable (top heavy) does the 2230 become with the cab installed? I do alot of mowing of banks and I would like to keep the cab on year round and just remove the windows and doors.

Just read your post and I have to mention that I have a Sims cab with the soft side door. The left door removes very easily while the left side is a combination of snaps and velcro. I have removed the cab for service but I find that mowing in the summer is cooler as you car protected from the sun. In addition, I turn the defroster fan toward me to "air-condition" the cab. The cab does not excede the height of the ROPS so it should not interfer with storage.
If you do remove the cab in the summer ther are but a couple of wires and maybe 6 or seven bolts to deal with. It is fairly light so I used my web straps/tie downs to lift it off the tractor.
Good luck

rbarker,
I am thinking about a Cutis cab. Is the front window removable? Can you leave the cab on the tractor and just remove the vinyl and front window? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks
Jon

The front window is not made to be removed. I suppose you could but then you have to deal with the windshield wiper and all. The back vinyl does remove with velcro and snaps. I never remove either, just the doors which are meant to remove easily. I find this sufficient for ventilation in the summer and it helps with the bugs a bit.
