1) Where would you recommend setting the throttle for the five minute warm-up period? (I've been warming slightly above idle.)
2)When mowing with the 60 inch MMM? (during the 50hr. break-in period and thereafter). (I've been moving slightly below full throttle.)

I would appreciate the opinion of experienced users.
Thanks in advance.

I warm-up at about 1/3 throttle.
I mow grass at 3000 RPM which is about 3/4 throttle.

I installed a TinyTach so that I know how fast I am running my engine and implements. It's a good investment and it is easy to install.

I asked a long time diesel mechanic this question recently, and his reply was to run it wide open throttle after the first 10 hours. Claims that if you break it in slow, it will always be a slow engine. I knew this to be a fact with gasoline engines, but have limited experience with diesel engines outside of cars. I bought my first diesel car in '67, but it was never very fast and I just accepted that as a fact of life. Diesels back then were noisy, slow, and smelly. My last one, a 1973 was a turbo diesel and much improved. They have changed a lot since then..... about 10,000%.

I would run at warm up for idle for (1) minute then 1/3 for about 3 to 5 minutes depending on temp.

As far as mowing, I agree with Junkman, run it wide open. It is a diesel and ment to be used.

I do the same as you. I've got about 55 hours on mine.
